We'll probably only get what we didn't from the Chev, so paddles etc and a minor styling tweak to see us through to the end. BUT it doesn't make sense to make all these different cars on the line, surely they'll simplify.
The FH XR8 will be getting the current supercharged engine out of the GT.
So maybe the VF SS will get the LS3. But if so, what does HSV use?.
I doubt the Holden product would ever see the 'LS' version, it is more likely to get the L99 which is an AFM equipped version of the LS3. In the end i can't see them changing the motor in the SS at all. I'm hoping that the HSV does see the new LT1 though.
As always it is a balance of what's available versus what the product planners believe is required to achieve their sales targets.
In the case of VF, it's perhaps best to remember that the exchange has worked both ways. Chevrolet gets some of the more desirable options normally reserved for our HSV product, but we also gained some of the US tech. Little chance of the Aussie market getting things like heads up display, lane departure warnings, self parking etc without that export market.
The Chevrolet SS is limited to what 3,000 sales per annum? At those volumes don't expect any new technology especially the LT1. The other stuff has been developed here for other models so is an easy fit.
