hahaha nice idea but i have not the slightest clue on how to do anything like that, using a switch or remote switch is piss easy to setup and install

Fark that..I just will be happy to be able to flick a switch or press a button to keep the bimodal open when required

See that little switch in the glove box. Thanks to a great post by EORS and Y.B.Shy on the HSV forum, I did this 45 min mod myself yesterday and it worked a treat. Now I have a bimodal bypass that I can turn on or off and have the best of both worlds.....

Naturally, it was supplied for "track purposes use only"

Re: E3 GTS with Bimodal set to Fully Open

Further to this, and instead of starting a new thread, has anyone done something similar on the Gen-F?

Also, as pointed out by the OP, the exhaust set to full open drones. To avoid this, utilising the bimodal to close during the drone period (typically between 1000rpm and 2300rpm) and keeping it open at all other times would suit the needs of most auto owners I'd imagine.

Has anyone worked out how to change the variables or parameters for the open/close rpm on a gen-f? I called the shop who did the work for the OP when I got my Maloo in July last year and was told that the tub liner has to be removed to run the wiring for the switch. The labour to do so would end up costing me more than it would for a sedan/wagon. Somewhere around the $600 mark apparently. Not what I was willing to spend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know people who have set up a reverse camera on VE/VF utes without removing the tub liner. You only have to be able to pull the driver's side away from the body to access the wiring. Even if the liner had to come out you can do it yourself and save money.

Can someone confirm if the standard bimodal exhausts are the same a varex, when they are open they are straight through pipes and closed they get routed through the muffler?

I thought they were controlled by vacuum aswell?

You shouldn't need to access the tub liner wiring. Its just a matter of being able to 'open circuit' the 'control' wire, from the EDI controller, to the solenoid that controls the vacuum valves on the Bi Modal mufflers. Its all done under the dash. You just need a switch, a length of wire, and a location for the switch( a hidden, handy position). If it drones, switch it off. A rubber mat in the tub helps with drone.

There was someone on the HSV forum that was working on re-programming the EDI controller, but I haven't heard of any progress on this.....

Do these have a dedicated fuse for the valves? If so, couldn't you just pull the fuse to have them open all time time? Popular 'mod' with the C6 corvette which had a similar system from memory.

No. They have a vacuum line to the engine bay which is operated by the ECU...
