Re: Ls engine identification link.
Thanks, very interesting.
So by the looks of it the crank with a 3.62" stroke is the same for the 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L and 6.2L. I'm assuming that the crankshaft it self is the same, maybe only difference being the 24 tooth (Gen III) or 58 tooth (Gen IV) reluctor wheel.
Looking at the data, you could make an absolute torque monster of an engine using the 4.8L/5.3L block with the 3.78" bore fitted with a LS7 crank with a 4.00" stroke and top it off with the truck intake manifold. A 4.00" stroke/3.78" bore gives 359 cubic inchs, or 5,884cc, a 5.9L engine with a massive bias towards low end torque.
Alternatively you could make an absolute rev monster of an engine using the LS7 block with the 4.125" bore fitted with the 4.8L crank with a 3.27" stroke and use an aftermarket 8tb manifold. A 3.27" stroke/4.125" bore gives 350 cubic inches, or 5,729cc, a 5.7L engine that could rev to the moon.
