Craig Lowndes SSV Limited Edition Commodore to be released

To commemorate "20 years of Craig Lowndes", a limited edition SSV is about to be released.
Planned production run is 161 cars...a number that should be familiar to any Australian motorsport fan.
Besides the expected decals/badging, these cars will have build numbers- with the option of choosing your favourite one (if still available- and build number 1 goes to Craig himself). They also score black staggered width 20 inch wheels and tyre pressure monitoring, besides some of the existing accessory bumper and side vent options.
In addition, each buyer gets an invite (with a partner/friend) to attend a private function with Craig at the Red Bull Racing headquarters in Qld, AND tickets to a local race weekend next year including hosted tour of the Red Bull pit garage.
Perhaps of great interest to many on here is that this car will be fitted with REAR 4 piston Brembo's on 360 x 28mm rotors (up from 324 x 22 w/single piston calipers on Redline).
Deliveries start in October, with last build planned for December.

Whilst many will sprout that this is nothing special, just a 'sticker' job, think back in history, the John Goss Falcon was a sticker special, the HQSS the same, GPack Torana, I can go on. It will no doubt be special to the 160 people who buy them

    Exactly.
At the end of the day it is the individual's choice, as it's their money, and we have to be honest- MOST volume brand mainstream "limited editions" tend to shuffle the options list, as it's the very definition of "volume brand mainstream"!
This example is certainly more than "a sticker pack" though, as it's the very first introduction of a new braking package in VF.

I don't know if the mighty 161 engine had much success in local racing so am assuming lap count, yeah?

If it weren't for the Chase they would be able to sell 2 more of them.

Rear Brembos + staggered fitment make it more appealing than the usual sticker pack too.

I remember all of these, I actually went out to buy an XA Superbird when new but missed the boat by a few weeks - none left. Wound up buying a new base 265 4 speed Charger, no radio, no power brakes, it did at least have disc brakes. By the time the Goss special came out, from memory it was dearer than the Superbird and would have been more than I could afford anyway. From memory the Superbird was about $3500 or so in 1973, the Goss I think was over $4000 in 1974?

Quite the scoop davo - no other mention of this on the net yet, so good job.

Gives those that are interested a very good chance at getting in early to avoid missing out.

I reckon holden should revisit the " Bathurst " name as in bathurst Monaro. You would have thought the name would have made it onto a car somewhere along the line. Maybe on the last version of the gts in a couple of years. They'd be queuing up for those I reckon.
