It will be an interesting test that is for sure. Have always like the look of the car. Saw it as a teenager and thought wow. That has stuck with me ever since.
What will this sell for ?

I saw one of these in a car yard the year they came out and I was blown away...probably the first time I ever saw carbon fibre..(or look a like)
They were great in the day, but I don't think they are old enough to grow to legendary status, like a Brocky.
When you sit in it, it still looks like a pretty basic VS with go fast bit on it.
Given that it's no K's and build 1 might raise some extra, I still think 80-85 ballpark.
The guys with build 8 wanting 92K is hoping there are some very nostalgic 30yr olds out there...
I heard this car sold previously in the muscle car boom for $220k......
Build No. 74 is for sale with 16,400km for $64,500....so you may be on the money. Jamie...

I'm with jc, unless you were set on a build no.1 car to add with others or wanted nothing but a GTS-R then it probably won't fetch much more than the others floating around for sale.
Cool cars, I remember seeing one parked at the Sunshine Coast when I was a kid and a crowd of people looking at it
GM: Has millions of dollars and highly trained engineers.
Guy in his backyard: Has a hole saw.
Not one of my favourites.
An attention getter for sure, but the mechanicals are nothing special, and the "enhanced engine"??..what a rip off that was , for what was it, 12KW. I remember Brock speaking to me about this enhancement, & in his words he said, "James (Brock) could build a better engine for a third of the price".
If I was looking for a car of this vintage it'd be a VS Series 11 215 Senator, manual or auto, wouldn't worry me, & theres mint low K ones around for $20K or under.
Pickles.
Time hasn't been very kind to the GTS-R.
Sometimes a car is a bit too out there for its time but later becomes revered (like the Walkinshaw VL) but the GTS-R was pretty ugly when it came out and is still pretty awkward looking.
Is this the ugliest HSV made ?
Definitely.
That rear wing is out of control. Wasn't cool then and is definitely not cool now. And taxi mellow yellow.........
Its unique and perhaps that generates the interest but dam its ugly.
"Generates the interest", well you're right there.
Like I've said, I'm not a fan of these, but I do remember when they were released, & the HSVOC were invited down to Penfolds South Yarra for a drive. Well, driving down Chapel St South Yarra, I don't think we'd have got more looks if we were driving a Sherman Tank, so yeah,.."attention getter"?.....gotta be no. 1 there!
Pickles.
I was 26 when these came out.
And with no internet back then knew nothing of the "taxi" yellow. Never driven one, but have sat in one. Would be in my top 3 pre 2000 HSV's made.
Anyone reckon HSV will do another as a swansong for the Commodore? (Like GT-F for Falcon)
Limited edition GTS-R LSA .....
