DIY: Oil Pressure Switch - LS1

If that's the case with yours mate it's a bodgey sender!! I have done both OEM & aftermarket switches with my sender socket & does both no problem!

This switch had a taller electrical plug on top compared to the replacement so the proper tool wouldn't fit. The impact socket was hitting a nearby electrical plug and what seemed to be the rear of the intake manifold. Almost got to the point where I pulled the manifold

Anyone ever tried to fit one of these? It is to attach an aftermarket oil pressure gauge sender to. I had to try to hold this together, line it up with the washer I positioned over the hole in the block and maneuver the whole thing with the pressure sender unit hanging of the side into place. Needless to say it all fell to bits and went down behind the engine. I managed to recover all but one washer ( I had to drive down the road and wait for one part to fall out….). I am working myself up to have another go soon.

Pull the inlet manifold... it is seriously the easiest job in the world... or add some grease to the washers to hold it all together.

Yes have the exact one on my 6L. Just a matter of holding it carefully & lower down into position. I know they're in a shit spot...but don't tell me you had to pull the inlet manifold off to fit it

Fit up an oil guage perhaps, I have shraueder fitting on mine to fit an accurate mech. guage to verify the actual pressure.

No I didn’t pull the inlet manifold. I did get it into position, eventually, with a screw driver through the middle to hold it all together. It was only when I removed the screwdriver it all went to shit. I had to go to work so I didn’t have time to piss around. I will endeavor again at some stage.

When i replaced mine ,twice mind you i bought an oil pressure socket from Repco it fitted over the switch cost me about $10.00 ..

The first switch was an ebay job $36.00 POS lasted 4 days ,the second one is a triton cost $60 ish from memory thats a few years a go now and it is all good ..

Well went into holden and they asked $211 for the sensor, saw the guy i knew there he said can do for $160
Will be running with the $80 odd dollar Triton next

I tried an Tridon switch once & did nothing but played up. Went & got an oem & all sweet!
