Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place but the Audio threads seem to be a graveyard.
Wondering if anybody has had experience with replacing the rear lower speakers (next to rear seats) in a CV8 Monaro. If so, is it a difficult job and where to start to get the panels off
Thanks in advance.

What sound system are you putting?
I have a 02 CV8 and looking at upgrading mine too, started off as just wanting a reverse camera but soon snow balls.
No, its dead easy.
1) Pull on tabs below cushion and it comes out.
2) Two bolts below the backrest (12mm??? can't remember, use normal socket driver).
Can't remember but you might need to undo the outboard bolts for the seatbelts.
3) Phillips screwdriver to undo 3 screws at back of each side trim and 3 screws along the bottom of side trim.
4) speaker is held in with a couple screws from memory.
Cheers, Matthew

Just changing the speakers, happy with the sound from the stock head unit and don't want to lose "stockness"
I just upgraded my system and added amps which entailed rewiring to the speakers in the front and back. The previous owner had installed new speakers in all positions. To get at the rear ones you remove the rear seats and I think from memory you need to remove the lower sill moldings in the door well to gain access to the security screws that hold the rear side panels in. They slide up and out. The seats are pretty easy to remove. Also remove some seat belt bolts. Not really difficult but it takes some time. I did the rear subs too which was a bit of a drama seeing the magnets wouldn't fit through the original holes.
