Sports mode is old hat, Tesla now offers "INSANE" acceleration mode

Well we have all heard of "Normal" and "Sports" mode selections in a car.

Now the first manufacture to offer "Insane" mode is Tesla with the Model S P85D 0-60Mph ~ 0-100Km/H 3.2-3.5 seconds.

Unbelievably Consumer reports in the US bought one ..... who'd have thought they would approve and enjoy
the Insane acceleration mode of a Tesla S.

Well times are changing, we just needs the price to come down back to earth so the rest us plebs can also experience insane mode LOL!.
Heard it is a real head rush the first few times and scares the kids into either laughing or shock. :-)

When I drove one of these in Norway last year, my bro-in-law was in the back seat with his sunnies parked on top of his head. First time I gave it a squirt , .his sunnies flew off his head and hit the rear screen sensational gadget!
Edit : heheh This bloody iPad auto-correct just edited "sunnies" into "undies", so it had him with his undies on his head....!

My boss recently bought one of these to practice hacking of cars (nice tax dodge as it is a "research" item). Certainly quicker than the Stock senator, but couldn't catch the torrie easily

Would love to own a P85D. Love the innovation and super high tech. Pop out door handles, over the air updates, James Bond Easter egg, the way the vehicle learns where you raise the suspension and automatically does it for you.
The price isn't too far off the mark considering the luxury that you get, and still quite exclusive. Just need the supercharger network. Will be interested to see how their SUV and smaller car go.
The 'hacking cars" thing sure sounds interesting.

I am having problems getting my mind around the concept that an electric car could be so quick, practical & fun as a daily drive.

Prius and Insight are the cars that give people the impression that electric cars are crap. After a quick search depending on model the Tesla's have from 325 - 687 lbft of torque and for an electric motor that is available from 0 rpm. Their range is decent as well. What will be interesting is when all this tech is common place and we get to change batteries / motors and maybe even tune these things? To think that my kids are likely to be asking why I drive a busted arse internal combustion power car! The answer well it just sounds better...

Today I drove up behind a Tesla P85D. It was hunting through traffic. Anyway it pulled beside an A4 and I thought...here we go. I had in on dash cam and promised not to say a word on camera no matter what happened in the next few seconds. (Yeah right) What happened in the next 3 seconds was unbelievable. I am downloading the vision and will get back to you.

I saw one in Salisbury about 4 weeks ago. First time I have seen one. I like the look of it, but no exhaust note was a bit sad lol.

ps... Yes they are brutally fast from stand still, no secret there
