How can an iron block 6 sharing pretty much all the same other naughty bits be 100kg lighter than an alloy block V8?????????

I just hope Holden aren't stingy with the power output in this upgrade knowing what Ford are doing...

325kw and a bimodal exhaust.............HSV need to spend some coin to justify the price differential.

well.. if correct HSV has just seen the death knell of the standard (not R8) 325 Clubsport
there would be no way people are going to pay a large HSV style premium for the standard Clubsport
when the SSv is packing the same punch, fancy wheels and HSV logos are not worth that much

I agree..... The Redline has decent brakes, sunroof standard as nice an interior Bar the cheap HSV gauges that are useless anyway, Redline has Staggered large wheels, Bose sound, then add a LS3, nice fancy bonnet, Bi model and new wheels???? doesn't add up to me....Even makes the GTS look like a joke at 30k more than a Redline for a blower?

I will defend the GTS here. Up top, it is familiar territory to most of us on here....
BUT get one up on hoist and have a look at the changes and stuff underneath. There is a lot of costly engineering that has gone on under the
car and really, in some areas it is a V8 Supercar that has been made streetable.

Yes I have a GTS so it is in my interest to say it is better but the GTS is without doubt the best thing to come out of HSV. And Holden. I have driven both, no comparison.

I have driven them Both and don't get me wrong the GTS was mind blowing (as are the other supercharged commodores I've driven) but I felt there is a limit I will pay for a commodore and 95k was too much. I then drove the Redline and honestly could not (apart from the obvious 170kw deficit) couldn't feel from behind the wheel much of a justifiable difference. Bare in Mind I love my Holden V8's I had the Green light from my wife (no easy feat) and the green light from my accountant to head off and lay down 95k on the Best most powerful HSV ever built.....I ended up driving it and breaking into a cold sweat when I realised this is just a commodore and its nearly $100,000.... I ended up some time later in a 13,000km 2014 Redline for 42k and if I decide to put a blower on it it will take on the GTS and still owe me a fraction of the 100k....
Saying that no one needs to defend their purchasing decision to buy a new GTS or any car for that matter, buy what you can afford and what YOU like.....we all have different opinions/needs/wants and budgets the redline just suited all of mine.

Yes the GTS/LSA has lotsa extra gear that not many speak of! A few have transplanted the LSA into various Commodores realizing while it's a straight forward swap there are many more extras the setup does require.

The brakes and torque vectoring are worth a big chunk of the difference let alone the nicer office. Each to their own. A Redline would be nice. A GAtS is just nicer.

Not to mention all the other parts that were specifically engineered for the GTS. It's not just an SS with blower and brakes. HSV did a fantastic job with the GTS.

It never computes for me, when people say i could buy X car and mod it and blow the doors off Y car. That can be done with a datsun or corolla too. Regardless, spend 50k on an SSV, add blower, fuel mods, brakes, suspension, intercooler, exhaust, and anything else that requires beefing up and you're soon pushing 75k... An extra 20k for a factory warranted car, engineered that way from the start ain't too bad... In several years, the 95k GTS will still fetch GTS money, but the SS with 20 odd thousand on it will still fetch SS money (for the most part)...
