Hopefully an LS9 rather than a quick tune

Holden's performance arm HSV is readying upgrades to its sledgehammer GTS sedan.

HSV is set to raise the power stakes on its flagship GTS.
Australia's fastest, most powerful homegrown car is likely to go out with an even bigger bang when production ends in 2017.
Fairfax Media has learned that Holden's performance arm, HSV (Holden Special Vehicles), is developing power upgrades for its flagship GTS sedan to coincide with the closure of Holden's Australian manufacturing operations. A company source has hinted the Melbourne-based tuner will raise outputs of the current 430kW/740Nm supercharged V8 in a move that would ensure it remains the most powerful production vehicle ever built in the country.
The upgrade would likely lower the GTS' 0-100km/h time to below four seconds; down from a current best time of 4.1 seconds during Drive testing.
"We are still looking to see what can be done with the GTS," the source said.
"You get a bunch of revhead engineers together in one room and that's what happens. You can be assured that they're working on something."
The GTS has been a huge hit for HSV in Australia, with more than 2000 vehicles sold since the Gen-F variant launched in 2013. While HSV has vowed to continue building performance models after Holden's manufacturing closure, the GTS looms as the last of the company's traditional V8 products, along with the rest of the Gen-F range.
The source said there have been no major reliability issues reported with current 6.2-litre LSA engine's outputs, and was adamant more power could be extracted without affecting long-term durability.
HSV's last-hurrah GTS is likely to coincide with a new 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 finding its way into the final update of Holden's SS Commodore. Up from the current 270kW to more than 300kW.
As reported by Drive in May, the Series II VF Commodore is set to be released this later this year with an uprated engine along with modest styling and cosmetic revisions. It is also understood that ute and wagon variants will also be lightly updated at the rear – bringing the first major change to those models since the VE Commodore was launched in 2006.

and I suspect if that is happening with the GTS, Clubbies may also get another boost in hp
(although they have just had one in MY15 versions) we shall see...

I like theBadging chrome strip etc etcute and wagon variants will also be lightly updated at the rear![]()
Are they going to increase power in the lower spec Clubbies? It seems 6.2 is coming to Holden with MY16, I am thinking they won't want to eat into HSV market by having an SS with near the same power as a Clubby. My thinking is if base Clubsport remains at 325 that Holden would be less than 300Kw. If HSV power is going up I think Holden may be more than 300. Of course it could well be that Holden want to stay in touch with the XR8's 335 Kw figure, but in my mind the XR8 is about a $60,000 driveaway car (maybe high 50's), where the base SS is currently advertised at $43,990 so at base level they aren't directly comparable in any case. On the other hand Redline is similar money to XR8.
I think the SS will get the L99 6.2 so around 300kw
Hsv will keep 340, drop the 325(maybe up to 350) and the GTS needs a gain after the GTF with just 351kw beat it on the dyno.
Ford also has the F6 motor coming in Turbo XR6, around 310 to keep in mind
Really want a XR8 motor in the redline.
Be nice if HSV got the GEN5 motor but cant expect that with the $$$$
239/247 goodness............
does the GTS really need more power... what about a change of gear ratios and some sticky rubber. loose a few kg and see the 0-100kph drop. power isn't the problem, its just fat.
all this hype will probably result in nothing more then a set of chrome badges and a new set of rims

My uneducated guess would be something like this:
LS3 with 340 (no change to this motor).
LSA with 400 and looses bimodal air intake (it is making 400. This will more than likely be the badged number although i reckon it should be under 400).
GTS remains unchanged.
Some stuff happening in the background for a limited edition GTS. Wont be until 2017 if it gets up. LS9 would be my guess.

I'm hearing rumors from my sales guys of LSA for the whole HSV range (but detuned so the GTS maloo is still the world's fastest ute).
I thought i read somewhere HSV main aim is to get the GTS to do 0-100 in under 4secs......
Cheers

I wonder if every HSV buyer wants supercharged, gives Holden plenty of scope to upgrade power in SS, SSV and Redline without stepping on HSV's toes, even if the standard HSV would be detuned from a GTS presumably it will still be somewhere around 400Kw as Bouka suggested (I tend to think they will keep it under 400Kw to maintain a margin to GTS). Holden can then go comfortably over 300Kw without upsetting HSV as there would be very clear differences in power as you move up the pecking order. From a marketing point of view it all makes sense.
Grange keeps LS3.
Every other HSV gets LSA.
SS gets LS3.
Late 2017 will be interesting.
