    Brake squeal at low speed

I have fitted some Redline Brembo's to my Calais with QFM A1RM Pads and have a high pitched squeal that occurs at very low speed (like the last couple of km/h before standstill). What would cause this? When I say high pitched, I mean it hurts your ears. I have tried CRC brake desqueal and this works for a while but it always comes back with a vengeance and is driving me nuts

Have you tried a few hard stops in a row like from 100 to 10 to get them hot see if it changes don't stop the car straight after though let it cool a bit

No, haven't had the chance to get to an area were I can do that, but will definitely give it a go asap, cheers.

    Definitely do as described.
Its how you're supposed to bed in performance pads, so any time you change them, do the same.

Depending on the pad, if they're not overly suited to street driving, they may glaze up over time and get noisey. In which case, repeating the process should rid it.

Did you happen to notice if there was a champfer on the leading/trailing edge of the pads when you fitted them?

I didn't fit them, so not sure. Yes, will definitely give the above a crack and hopefully will sort them out. If not, may have to change to a different/more street friendly pad.

The A1RM's shouldn't be too bad, I'd say bedding them in properly will cure it. Otherwise whip them out, make sure there's a groove in the centre (and it's clean) and a champfer on the edges. If there isn't, it's a quick job with a grinder.

I'm guessing they were new pads?

Worst comes to worst Rod, you could opt for a softer pad & change em more often perhaps.

Yes brand new. They are listed as the QFM Track pad, so probably to be expected when driven softly on the street.

Easy done fit them day prior for track duties, then back to softer for the street.

Rip the pads out, chamfer the leading edge and put some anti-squeal compound on the backing plate. Worked for my Clubby with Bendix Ultimate Squeal pads.

Re: Brake squeal at low speed

I have the same QFM A1RM pads in my VZSS ute daily driver, they only do the same thing when coming to a very softly - softly stop, hardly any pressure on pedal.

It doesn't bother me, these are the best pads I've used to date, the initial bite is simply awesome.

I've had Bendix Metal Kings, Green stuff, Yellow Stuff, Bendix Ultimate's (WORST DUST MAKING PAD EVER!!!.... Never again!!!...In Da Bin!!!...), the A1RM's eat them all for breakfast, out performed them all, work from cold, don't

require warming up before they start working and are cheaper too...

Hence I happily live with a bit of squeal.

Very happy with the way they work, only pads I have had that out perform them are Ferodo DS2500's, and they were dead silent. Absolutely hate Bendix ultimates for the mess they make.

Re: Brake squeal at low speed

Bed them in with some hard stops as mentioned earlier or swap to softer pads. Scuffing the new discs with some wet and dry to break the glaze can help too.
