Found the xforce to be ok with either a different merge pipe or different rear can. Done same to my Crewie 6L & it sounds a lot better.

I have a couple good exhaust places here in Toowoomba to turn too, I'll ask them what they recommend and maybe post up for scrutiny. But they know their Holden's generally. Only thing is as Wonky eluded too, and I didn't know this, the VE has a different setup compared to the VZ MY06, and seeing as the 6 Litre L76 VZ is a rarity, I hope I'm not disappointed lol. Don't want drone that's for sure.

If you have the clearance for it Greg's 3 1/2" systems sound very tough!

Re: VZ MY06 L76 6 Litre Extractors and exhaust query

Just buy a decent cat back, if sound is all your after. Keep it Simple... But be warned, you buy cheap, it'll drone for sure...

Don't waste your money buying shorty headers that bolt up to the std cats, complete waste of time. No gain what so ever IMO, except an empty wallet.

Save the cash and buy a full header / aftermarket cats at the same time, if you want more than just, the cat back later down the track. Everybody always wants more later...

The std cats and full header won't work, as the cats are mounted higher up closer to the engine.

If you buy a cat back and have to change bits of it straight way, because it drones..., ie "cheap", you'll be chasing your tail getting frustrated, heard this happen so many times its not funny.

Best way to test for drone, is a higher gear at low rpm, and load the sucker up without laboring it. Nothing worst than the dreaded drone, especially cruising on fwy going up a slight incline droning away...

Buying a cat back, super easy to install, bolts right up, do it yourself with car on jack stands. If fitting headers yourself get the car as high as possible makes it a lot easier.

Also "no resonators" equals drone IMO...

I've added extractors and hiflow cats to my catback and the drone got worse. Had a couple of resonators added to the catback but still drones. What combination of extractors, cats and catback have people got on their VZ MY06 L76 6 Litre that gives them a nice v8 sound with 'no drone'?

    Thanks

My VZSS Thunder ute, L76 6.0L T56, with 3.9 gears, is quiet as a mouse cruising on fwy at 100 clicks... Drone what drone...

Full DF (1 3/4 headers, 3 inch in/out cats and dual 3 inch catback)...

I called them direct, ordered over phone, on my door step a couple of days later, fitted myself, job done...

Fits my needs perfectly, dead quiet cruising on fwy in 6th gear, sounds awesome IMO when I open it up, nice & deep/throaty, quite loud (me likes very much), but not stupid loud...

Get rid of the stuff behind your headers, and replace with either DF or KPM, my opinion

Sounds like you had their quiet system? The medium and especially loud systems are very deep - sound great.
