I would say they're just to reduce harmonics at low speed which would create a squeal.
Many pads may get away without it simply by using a heavier backing plate.
Nope, its not always open. Its open when you're idling, but you'll notice that if you give it some boot, that the sound gets much louder and angrier after around 3500rpm. That's the sound of the bimodal opening up.
By pulling the relay out, you're essentially leaving the bimodal open all the time regardless of RPM.

That sounds great! I wonder if the Mylink detects that it is removed and records a fault in the system that Holden peeps might see and then claim some sort of warranty void crap? I expect that would be the same setup on an MY16 yeah?

The same thing was done on the VF1 HSVs with the bimodal exhaust. Same relay in the same spot. Haven't heard anything come back about it.

Had the 1000km inspection and asked for an oil/filter change, pretty reasonable price on the oil, and i have some leftover to compare when i do an oil analysis later. Mrs also scratched a f#@king rim too![]()

Any particular reason for using the 5-30 synth in the 6.2?
Just personal preference really from engines over the years. Was going to go M1 but its a pain to get (as per my M3, which i sample often) and the spec sheet /additives seemed to suit what it will be used for

Exactly, get out the big junk (actualy 2500kms) now. Looking at those new G8 18s, hawk hp+ pads (minus counterweights) and some NT01s and hit wakefield/smsp mid next year and see how it goes; reckon 1.11s and 1.54s comfortably with no mods etc
