Update: The panelbeater has agreed to refund most of my money so rectification work can be done by one of the 3 places I got quotes from. Money will be paid to repairer of my choice as a 'deposit' for the job. Now just waiting for the money to be received by the place that will do the rectification work.

I will have to chip in some more as I'm also getting front guards done so I don't have the colour mis-match issue again on the front of the vehicle.

Sounds like a reasonable outcome but disappointing considering you had asked about the blending initially but were told not required.
