I'm looking to get a dent pulled from the 1/4 panel. Speaking to the dent removal guy he said he could get it 90% repaired. Quizing the 10% he tells me there maybe a paint blemish because of the size of the dent with the paint being stretched. Is this anything to be worried about? Am I going to lose the paint after a wash etc? For $250 was considering taking the risk over claiming insurance.

On and a big f%&k you to the c$%t rash that dinted wherever the hell it happened. Didn't notice it till my father pointed it out!
Following the Tornado at Kurnell/Cronulla NSW our VE Calais got half a dozen hits very minor, my insurer referred us to Australasian Hail Network they have a few places in Qld too. Fuk knows how they did it but I cannot see any traces of damage & the paint looks as good if not better than before!

My car got hit with a hail storm just before Christmas, apart from the dents it busted the side windows on my neighbour’s SUV and I got about 20 dents, it also smashed the roofing on the pergola and the solar heating for the pool.

When I took my car to my favourite smash repairer his paintless dent removal fellow put a light on it and those 20 dents turned into about 60.

It had a ripple effect along one section on the driver’s side.

I paid for it out of my own pocket as the quote was less than my insurance excess and he also fixed up a couple of carpark dents in the door.

I border on fanatical about my cars and do my own correction and polishing and I’m still amazed at the fantastic job that was done, to the naked eye it was perfect.

Here's hoping your excess is more expensive than mine

My excess is $1200 and the job cost $1100.

Not bad considering every panel including the roof was peppered.

It took around 6 hours to do the job.

I can understand why they would write the vehicles off in the days when they pulled, filled and painted the cars to repair them.

With my Ute they first removed the tray liner, the cabin headliner & the door cards and work from behind the panels with special tools for the job.

Here a couple of videos, one without heat and one with as it depends on the location and/or depth of the dents to how they go about it and how successful they are.

There are a million videos of it being done on YouTube.

Anyone know if they can do doors from the outside? Got a few car park dings I've been meaning to get done but my doors are sealed up tighter than Fort Knox for my stereo

I couldn't see any evidence that our door trims or hood lining, nor under bonnet deaden er had been removed? Unless off course they did a very neat job of putting it all back!

I know the place I went to well as they have worked on a few of my cars and also done restoration work on some of my older ones.

They explained to me how they were going to do the job and it would involve removing all the linings including the tray and bonnet liners.

If they hadn’t said anything I wouldn’t have known as everything was a perfect fit when I picked it up.

A couple of fellows from the panel beating section did the strip down and refit and an older fellow did the dent removal.

They started removing the tray while I was chatting and waiting for a lift home.

They also showed me all the dents I didn’t see by eye by using the same light setup as you see in the above videos.

It was amazing how many it highlighted.

The car was as smooth as a baby’s bum when they finished.

Mercedes-Benz put me on to them a few years back and they do mainly high end cars and at the time my Commodore was the only vehicle there that wasn’t an Audi, BMW or Merc and they were also restoring a couple of old Ferrari’s, they are not cheap but they do a great job and it’s the reason I go back to them.

As you say a good operator is like a thief in the night
With my old eyes could only notice under a dozen slight dents, though with their lights it shows everything! Unfortunately I wasn't available the morning the guys did the initial inspection & don't know exactly how much damage their was on our vehicle. Besides our Calais Vee their was one Stato & the rest were 3 pointers or other Euro in the shop.
