You think it's the secondary earth to the body strap causing this issue then.

The mounting bolts for the airbag module are also grounds and thats the centre on the errors. There is also a ground near there that I have concerns about. I'll just test the resistance and see where the issues are.

In saying that has the steering column have a specific earth too? Maybe worthwhile to check.

    Re: VF GTS Wagon

All this trouble was a dodgy mrc suspension computer connector. Fark that was a painful process! .

So it is done ! Well sort of. The build is complete but I have the mods to do.

I have to get the trimmers to do the custom GTS rear seat but we have a temporary one which will Do.

I have to install my stereo and sub and make the cover for the cut out spare wheel but other than that is is complete.

Sort out out the windscreen washers and rear wiper.

So I can breathe now. The wait till April 20 will kill me.

I did drive it back from Exhaust Innovation today on the trade plate. Couldn't have to
much fun as I couldn't turn the traction control off with the mrc computer playing up

Thanx for all that have helped during this process and to those who said it couldn't be done - well proof is in the getting off your arse and having a go at it.

Haley, Tony and Cam at Motorama Spares for finding all the insecure bits I needed.

Dean an at Salvage Auto Spares for letting me rummage through all your stuff to get what I needed. Even taking harnesses and stuff to test.

Neet and Maddie for helping this colour blind guy find the wires without having to test every single
one and for letting me take over the Cinema to do the wiring. And for just letting
me even try this. Luv you guys.

Greg (gothev8) for helping and handing me tools and parts and hanging around to bounce stuff off of when I get stuck and driving around with me to get stuff.

Ivan at Champs Body Works for the cool paint.

I will post some more pics when I get a chance to take some good ones after she is detailed.

    Cheers

    Chad

    Re: VF GTS Wagon

So it turns out the MRC Computer is Pucked. Lucky I have a spare. It is making a noise like it has farqued caps inside.

Driving around today all was fine then esp and power steering faults same as before. It was right where the car got hit. Can see why they write these off... Would have cost thousands just to trace this fault.

So I pulled the back end out to triple check all the wiring and heard the noise it was quite faint but sounded like a busted fan.

I have also moved the MRC computer as it fit better further forward. Had to lengthen a couple of bus wires but not a big deal.

The right DRL wasn't working when the parkers we put on so I checked it out and there was a mistake in the wiring... Why with all the colours available would you use two of the same colour in a single plug. Muhc easier to test when its in the car as switch the parkers and volts switch.

I drove it around today to get wheel aligned and the air con gassed. I gets a few looks.

Have to take it up to the paint shop tomorrow for them to sort a couple of things... Nothing major.

Bring on the 20th. Ahh who cares I'm driving it now....Cant see me stopping just have to be careful as no insurance....ouch

The interesting thing is how pov a Calais V feels compared to the plushness of a GTS. Those seats are so soft and the ride is just awesome. HSV Snob

It is so quiet with the dynamat. I'm going to do the spare wheel floor after I seal up the hole (hope it don't rain when I'm out) and do the stezza. The bose without the subs is just terrible.

It will be so quiet inside even with the exhaust quite loud. I'm going to do the tub in the Calais also as I have heaps of dynamat left over and it seems like a good ides.

I have a couple of things to try for the tap shift as there is a different wire in the bcm that may workas I have it hooked up to the 2015 wire but they list as the same circuit so worth a try.

Hopefully that is the last of the wiring as I am really over it.

Now bring on the 24 Hours of Lemons Race.... We have till may 20 to prep a car which currently has no engine. Arrggghhh More wiring..... Racepak and Haltech is fun.

Cheers Again Guys and After it is all wovi and registered I'll take some pictures and post them up.

Chad, I put some lead-sheeting used for roofing-flashing around the spare-wheel well to stop any drumming - made a big difference

Mind blowing ... I didn't think any build would ever top the original Katie Wagon, not sure this is "better" (purely for sentimental reasons) ... but it's up there!

Congrats Chad, can't wait to see more pics when it's detailed!

    Re: VF GTS Wagon

So I have made some progress on the finishing touches ready for WOVI tomorrow.

Sealed up the rear end where we cut the tyre tub. Made it out of sheet plastic urethaned it in place and dynamated it.

Have made progress with the Wagon wiper part. I have got access to the bcm configuration data. I can now put a 2015 wagon config in with the security of the 2014 sedan so it will all talk. This will give me tap shift also. Not done yet but the theory is sorted. Didn't want to tamper till the WOVI is done tomorrow.

I have also got a lead on the EDI. Very early days but definately moving in the right direction.

I also spent some time working at hacking the vin in the media/radio unit so I can program the wagon config and relink it to the bcm. I know this can be done from a couple of sources but I want to be able to update it and then relink it myself without paying each time. I don't mind hacks but want to control them myself. Especially when they are in different states and I can't have it to repeat as required.

    So I need to :

    Install my Stereo
Hack the BCM for wagon with sedan VIN for wiper and tap up/down shift.
Hack the VIN Lock on the radio so I can use a Wagon config. Just so it shows a Wagon during parking mode.
Wire the rear washer up and plug in the water line.

So so the list is massively diminished but still enuf to keep my interest.

I have a ve a few other project that will chew up my time over the next few weeks and I'm enjoying having a break from this mammoth task.

The BCM hacking will peak my interest if I can't sleep over the next week.

Some of this may lead to the ability to have blue screens and dashes in ss vehicles with a correct VIN programmed in the system. Including the addition of tap up/down without additional hardware other than a tap shift wheel kit.

    Cheers
