Do they have a Cam sensor in those engines also?![]()
Right long story my cars a vxr8 here in England but better known to you as hsv r8 clubsport. It's an ls3 with heartbeat sc a performance cam zl1 fuel pump and rebuilt and upgraded auto box. All started off when I went to a mile sprint day car would only do 155mph then hit a limiter. Which I didn't have on my map went to the garage and it turned out it was only running on 7 cylinders at the time I had the sc and fuel pump up grade only. They checked the bore with a camera and said it looked scored and compression wasn't great so the took my engine out. It turned out that the marks were only water marks where they say the the car has been sat up for a while. So while the engine was out I had a cam put in and the auto box rebuilt and upgraded to handle the power with a kit from the states including a new torque converter. Up the boost to 9/10 psi and made 698 fwhp. Happy days I thought car runs really well until you hit 70/60 mph and coast down the gears to a stop and cuts out doesn't do this all the time. Did some live data logging and the car looses crank signal and that's when she cuts out so yesterday had the crank sensor replaced and the wiring from there to the loom as they said the wiring can become damaged from the heat from the headers. After all this she still cuts out any thoughts would be great full. Only started cutting out after the engine was pulled cam fitted and box built

Check the Cam sensor as stalling is a symptom of a bad sensor and is possible that weakened wires were disrupted during Cam swap out or the connector may not have been connected properly
Ok will pass the info on cheers

Have them check all engine earthing points too, especially the ones connected to the Cyl. heads.
My tuner now thinks the problem might lie with my map. Fingers crossed
Sound like a tune related issue to me, what are the cam specs?
My tuner keeps his cam spec a secret they have done a few not heard of any that have had issues. I had the box rebuilt with a kit from the transmission centre with a near standard stall. It doesn't seem to change down the same every time sometimes it will but change down nice and smooth other times it will change down and you hear it as it picks up rpm to about 1.5 rpm the other times changes and just stalls doesn't pick up hard to explain
Trans was built using this kit https://transmissioncenter.net/shop/...nce-combo-kit/
Jeez I thought nobody bothered with secret cam specs for LS engines anymore, he doesn't call it a "Steath II"' by any change does he? Just kidding.
You didn't have the problem before the cam was installed, stalling on coast down is a common tune related issue after a cam install especially with a auto trans, just sayin.
No it was fine before the cam and gearbox rebuild. We only really have two tuning shops here in the uk think that why they won't tell you the spec

I think what xjas is saying is that the cam could be the cause of the stalling. If you put too big of a cam in an auto, it doesn't like it and can stall. A manual will stay running when coasting (esp at lower speeds) and if needed you can give the pedal a tickle, cant do that with an auto without launching into the car stopped at the lights infront of you![]()
It's not a big cam and one they have used in autos before. It's strange as it doesn't do it all the time either. If I see it dropping to low I can save it with a little throttle
Try increasing values in B1829 (minimum idle airflow)
