Legend! Can't believe it's been a decade. Steve Irwin last weekend.
Hard to believe it has been 10 years,
he was one of Australia's greatest.
Sadly missed & fondly remembered!
RIP Peter Brock, "King of the Mountain"

Yes very sad for me now as I grew up Peter perfect was my hero.![]()
Not certain or to be seen if Craig Lowndes will surpass Peters record at Bathurst though.
RIP PB
There will never be another Peter Brock.

I used to love watching Brocky & Moffatt etc battling it out at Bathurst every October in modified Holdens & Fords.
Lot's of mates used to get together & have beers 'n bbq for Bathurst every year. (It was like a normal Aussie bloke's way of life.)
How things are done at Bathurst is not the same these days, I just can't get into it anymore.![]()
I lived in Melbourne in the 70s and used to spend a lot of time at Sandown.
Down at Hell corner was Peter Jansen's double-decker bus, where after racing the boys would gather to down many VBs.
Brocky, Moffat, Harvey, Bartlett, Gricey, Goss, Perkins, "The Captain" plus their entourage. As a 10 year old I was in awe!
I seen Bev on the morning show today & as hard as there relationship must have been especially in latter years she never said a bad word about him.
It's a sad day today...10 years since the King of the Mountain was killed at Targa West.
R.I.P. Peter Perfect !!!!

RIP Brocky!![]()
Agree, I still watch Bathurst as it's been a tradition since the early seventies when I was a kid but it's not the same anymore. The V8 format (or now just Supercars) has become too much of a TV show (entertainment) for me in later years. Early to mid 90's when they were still sort of a road car was cool but later when they started forcing Holden's to run Chev engines, all ended up basically the same chassis with a different body shell and then sequential gear boxes I didn't really care as much. Channel 7 taking the coverage over basically killed it for me and now not having Foxtel I hardly watch it at all.
Brock was pretty much "the man" when I was a kid and young adult, I remember getting the opportunity to talk to him a couple of times over the years both as a kid and an adult and he was happy to, some of the others not so much, that makes a big impression especially on a 13 year old.
One time at Lakeside in the first race (VL days from memory) both his cars got smashed up, and in the pits after there was a big crowd standing around while the mechanics were struggling trying to jack one of the cars back under the tarp/marquis which would have a pain in the arse for them. When the crowd thinned out a bit, here's Brock standing in the middle of them all just having a casual chat to the punters. That's why he was/still is so popular, RIP Peter Brock, 10 years has gone too quickly.
Jason.
