THE negative reaction from some Holden fans to the news the Holden Commodore name will be used by an imported front-wheel drive model has been shrugged off by the executive responsible for selling the new car.
    https://www.wheelsmag.com.au/news/16...y-was-expected

I guess I didn't expect the Top sales executive to say anything other than plastic praise for the new thing.

The only thing this car can do now is attempt to compete with the rest of the mid sized front drive crap on the market.

I can't find any statistics for how many Insignia vs Commodores are sold, but I'd be really interested to know- since they are priced similarly, how buyers are choosing one or the other.
Undoubtedly there will be some polished German technology in there to sway the timid away from the sweaty SSV Redline.

If they are close, then it would explain how some gushing executive would suggest closing that pesky local assembly plant that costs so terribly much to run would be smart.
Seriously I wonder if Mr Peter Keley (Holden Executive Sales Director), has ever owned or driven a V8. Seriously dude.

Probably proves that some really big businesses truly are only interested in Global Profit not Local Jobs. Looking at Ford too.

Things are just being ruined on so many levels. Next they'll tax beer.

    A$$holes.

We'll just have to wait and see what new car Holden announces the "Day After" the last VF is sold.... to see what they have up their sleeve to compete against the Mustang...

Marketing 101 to keep VF Sales going to the very last day.

Until then, the Insigneeadoor is a non consequence IMO...

Obviously the Insigneeadoor is just there everyday FWD/AWD A to B car, there is nothing performance about it... Move on, nothing to see here..........

Now Trump is in, and he's going to turn everything on its head (Finally.....) and the stupid Australian government following the US like little lemmings allowing all off shoring of manufacturing, and importing everything, making big companies richer at the expense and demise of the greater population... How things can change so quickly...

Who are the fools now... Idiots...

No, sadly they will milk every last cent out of it mate.

& Holden have never been shy about selling imported (IMHO) lesser quality cars by sticking their badges on them.

Look at all the re badged Daewoos they have sold!

Ah those customers will NOT be coming back after the Holden badge Daewoo experience - putting it nicely.

Re: ... 2018 Commodore replacement, NO V8 or turbo :(

.. just had an email from GM Holden
giving full details, pics, specs etc (cept pricing) on the all new Holden

    of interest is this bit...

“What Commodore will also continue to do is carry the family in space and comfort. Commodore will race in Supercars from 2018 and be on the road as police cars around Australia. Commodore is changing and brining incredible technology and refinement with it but will continue to offer customers that quintessential Commodore experience they have loved for nearly four decades. "

    police cars?
