Sounds like it would have been an interesting evening Martin, any pictures?![]()
Visited HSV's new premises Walkinshaw Park with the HSVOC last night,.....VERY impressive.
This is a MASSIVE facility, over which the Walkinshaw Group have a 15 yr lease.
HSV chief, Tim Jackson gave us a very positive address to explain how they got to this point, but that this is only the beginning, they have plenty of stuff on the go.
We got up close & personal with Sportcat, Camaro & Silverado, saw the conversion processes, which is SO comprehensive.
All in all, a very good, informative evening.
Pickles.

Thanks Pickles. That all sounds quite impressive & it's nice to hear about some good automotive news (for a change).
Thanks Martin, your bloody mate Tony & Joe shut em down!![]()
Lol!!...fair enough,.....but ya gotta look at why.
Hockey simply put it to Holden, "ďf ya want the dollars", give us a committment that you will remain in manufacturing in Aus. No such guarantee was forthcoming. And mate this is the secret, the guarantee to remain in manufacturing had to come from Detroit,...Holden hadn't made any important decisions for years,...they just did what they were told. If Detroit had supported Holden's export plans, Holden would still be going, plus of course on the condition that they made vehicles that people actually wanted to buy. AGAIN, Detroit's fault,....no permission or dollars to do anything, yet look at the dollars they ripped out of Aussie when Holden was making squillions. I'm as unhappy as you that Holden aren't manufacturing. Plenty of stuff by Peter Hanenburger (last Holden MD to do what he liked before Detroit took over the reigns) in the press lately talking about this very issue (Detroit influence!). He said at the time that the Holden he knew, had ceased to exist,....years ago.
A very emotive issue mate, Pickles.
Martin.... not strictly correct all that
Mike Deveraux (Holden MD at the time of Hockeys outburst) DID get a commitment from Detroit to continue manufacturing
.. contingent on 2 things, government money (a min of $160mill) and putting up a business case to support making a Commodore
successor (which we now know was the ZB) and a Cruze successor in SUV form (reputedly the EQUINOX )
The guvmint $ as we know was not forthcoming and Holden could not guarantee the business case would happen so....
the rest we know![]()
