[QUOTE=mjrandom;2168246]We all have diffefent ideas about what is cool and I admit I am partial to D and E type jags. At a recent GEAR day there were a couple of very nice restorations. Both road registered here in Q though they were trailered to the track. I think the first shake down run before more general use.
This car has been restored to original condition with the exception it is running an alloy 3.8L block.

There was an excellent book on Jaguar sports cars written by Paul Skilleter in 1975. It covered all Jaguar sports cars including the lightweight E Type. I gave my copy away about 20 years ago. From memory the lightweight E Type was not very reliable. The engine could only handle about 340 horsepower, the alloy blocks weren't that good. Whether that E Type has one of those blocks I wouldn't know. If that car is one of the originals it would be worth a lot of money.
[QUOTE=keith reed;2168254] The blue car is running a reproduction alloy block, the gold one has a cast iron block. I read the same about their performance. These cars are still worth a small fortune, well a big gkrtune to me anyway. I will see if I can track down that book. Thanks.
Old add for the EH someone maybe interested in.
