Considering the standard of upgrades, what you have spent & done to your car Rod,
I would be inclined to go for a full HSV trim upgrade.![]()

Now that my car is sorted in the go, stop and handling department I am finding that the bean bag that doubles as a drivers seat in my VE Calais V is the weakest link. I have my eye on some second hand VE SS seats that look like they have a lot more side bolstering than the Calais seats. My question is, will these bolt straight to the Calais seat rails allowing me to retain the electric functionality that the current seats have? Also, do you consider this would be a significant upgrade on the current pews? Just sick of using the steering wheel and my left or right knee to stop me going the opposite direction to the car lol. Any opinions/experiences appreciated![]()

Hey Ed. Yes that has certainly crossed my mind. The thing that I like about the SS seats is that they don't have SS embroidered into them, whereas all the HSV seats I see have
Clubsport embroidered into the back. A full HSV interior would be nice though, probably super expensive though?
Rod Ive read on fb where peeps are fitting auto seat mech. to passenger seats in their Calais, so don't really see why you couldn't. Know the VF's use the same mechs. also.
Arent all the seats the same, its just the covers and the foam bolsters that are different? If so, I wonder if you can have the SS bolsters and new covers added to your Calais seats? I think Holmart also sell the HSV covers so if you wanted to go down that path I bet a trimer could cut the better foam bolsters to match. Or maybe just retrim your seats with more sporty trim and bolsters but I believe you have to be careful with the side airbags if they are in your seats.
Hey Rod, your car can stand up against any factory same year HSV anyway.
(It's got an HSV supercharger fitted & it's not as if anyone could laugh at it like as if it was a Barina or something.)
It's your car, the HSV seats would look nice, be very comfortable & fit, I reckon you should just go for it mate.![]()

I got mine done a couple of years ago far, far better seats than the standard SSV seats !!! You can have what ever you want embroided on the seats, I have nothing on mine. Came with Airbags ready to bolt in. Front and rear were around $3000 if I remember correctly... I even had heaters installed...
Looked at a wrecked Senator interior that for $1700 looks like it was dug up out of someone's garden. At the moment the SS seats I am looking at look like a bargain that will satisfy my needs if they can be fitted without too much hassle. My only other concern is how much they will mismatch the rear seat? May have to look for a good SS sedan rear seat to match![]()
