    VZ Heater Core replacement

The heater sprung a leak wet carpet etc so time to swap it all out, fair job allow plenty of time & a good 3/8 drive socket set with long extension bars. Job took about 4.5hrs to remove entire dash plastics, reclaimed R134a from aircond, remove reo bars from dash & remove entire HVAC unit.
Here's a few pics of day one!

This required the steering wheel, column shrouds, light & wiper switches to be removed as the VZ crash pad lower section is one piece & has to be lifted over the column for removal.
Hopefully tomorrow will have most it back in & running.

    Re: VZ Heater Core replacement

Wasn't too bad, practically all done. Only problem I have is the indicators are not working
Checked both indicator & hazzard light fuses ok, hazzard lights work fine, indicators flash ok when lock/unlocking too which indicate the BCM is ok.
Have a spare indicator stalk swapped that and not still no go! Only thing left to check is flasher can as I don't have a spare! Thing is only changed that a few years ago!

Heaters working & my AC guy was good enough to gas up the aircon too

    Re: VZ Heater Core replacement

After consulting the trusty manual, my suspicion was correct, flasher relay was shagged! It threw me a bit cause when the last one went the indicator would stay on when selected & not flash. This one totally died!!

Have a few minor pieces of trim to fit, whole job took about 8hrs & cost me $345 inc the flasher relay, was quoted by a local repairer about $2K so reasonably happy with the outcome.

Only other thing to do is reset the SRS mil cause I had to power up the car to allow the passenger door to lock. Won't allow you to push it down when no battery connected! Yet the drivers door using with manual key no problems.

For SRS reset I use a free prog called VZairbag, still need a aldl cable plus laptop to use. Link: http://1337vending.com/vzclustermod/wiki/VZAirbag

    Re: VZ Heater Core replacement

Bit late to tell you, but for others when I did the heater core in my V2S1 Monaro (a manual) I didn't need to remove the steering wheel. You can wrangle it around the steering wheel.

    Cheers, Matthew

    Re: VZ Heater Core replacement

Thanks, I done the job one out & was easier to remove them, plus I wanted to swap over my spare clubbie wheel at the time cause I generally have the spare refinished & put away for next time.
