Guessing handbrake shoe stuck to the drum inside the rear rotor if all OK now.
Hi guys just had a weird one got in my 2009 calias wagon started the car put in drive and it didnt move as though there were chocks under me wheels put in back in park and got out to see if there was something in my way nothing to be found got back in then heard a loud metalic crack or bang noise from the rear passenger side and then when i put it in drive the car moved forward but it was squeeling from the rear end, i drove forward a few metres and because of the squeeling noise stopped and the noise stopped so i reversed back the few metres that i had moved and it squeeled all the way back till i stopped and i could feel it did not want to move as i has to give it a bit more to get it to move im hopeing its something to do with the hand brake but from in the car the hand brake lever feels normal,i drove the car several times over the weekend and it was fine so it has been less than 24 hours since it was driven it was pouring with rain when i drove it on sunday, doesnt seem like diff or drive train but cant be sure any advice would be great thanks guys.

The car will move now but it is still squealing when i move it even a metre forward or reverse but i can feel it doesnt want to move.
OK, really nothing for it but to jack it up on stands. Box in neutral and turn the wheels by hand. See if you can identify whether the noise is at the wheels or diff and go from there. I had a bad workshop replace my rear rotors on my 4wd, I was lazy. They pulled the old rotors off without backing off the parking brake and this stretched an internal spring.that rubbed and sounded like a bearing howling. Easy if expensive to fix.
Had a similar issue with my VE Calais sedan, was the handbrake stuck on after rain but once released it was fine for me. Had an older car that did it to, had to bounce her bit to get it to release (polished concrete, the tyre would just drag).
... EPB is not releasing I reckon
the cables do break plus the adjusters are shit
pull the wheel off one rear wheel and then the caliper .. and see if you can get the rotor off
and I you cannot, see if if the cable is moving when you 'pull/release' the park brake switch
go from there.. and some mechanical effort may be needed![]()

EPB on a VE?
Thanks to all members for their advice with the help of a mate and fellow forum member thanks Gav we jacked up rear end found it was only on 1 side and just backed off the handbrake and seems to have solved the issue not sure how it started to begin with maybe my handbrake was always set a bit to tight as i could only ever pull it up about half way only to the fifth click my mate could pull his up well over a dozen so eased mine off so i can now get about 8 and seems to have worked, so thanks for all the advice guys.
