VicPol assess BMW M3 Competition for HWP

Victorian Police add BMW M3 Competition to the fleet

    just announced
Victoria Police Highway Patrol has added a special new member to its fleet – the mighty BMW M3 Competition. The latest generation of BMW’s famed sports sedan, which had its world premiere in 2020 and launched to wide acclaim in Australia earlier this year, has been performing specialist duties in the hands of Victoria Police Highway Patrol officers in recent weeks across the state.

The M3 Competition will be on the Highway Patrol fleet for a temporary period as part of the Police Highway Patrol’s vehicle evaluation and assessment process. Provision of the high-performance model complements BMW’s strong association with Victoria Police following deployment of BMW 5 Series Highway Patrol vehicles in 2018.

Agree, it is not a good looking thing but I am sure it would be great to drive.

Be quite a bit slower than that with all the gear they carry but no light bar to slow it down

IMHO that car is far too expensive for the Highway Patrol, the 530s they have now are expensive, the M3 Competition would be right over the top, can't believe they'd consider it or anything like it, certainly not in large numbers.
But it's only "our" money paying in the end isn't it, & reading of the massively increased income from a massively increased battery of speed cameras last year, they could probably afford a Rolls or two.

In the day of the V8 I believe they bought cars used them for like 6 months then sold them for more than they paid for them
I doubt this would apply for an M3 as the client may be snobs
The maintenance costs would be through the roof as well

can you imagine the brake repairs... regular like!

Cops always have monster brake performance as part of their requirements in their cars, especially HWP coz they wear them out
at an atrocious rate! Hate to think what a new front set for one of these would be worth!

    Quote from " 14 December 2021 " article below.

"While the retail price starts from $154,471 before on-road costs, taxpayers need not fret, with BMW Australia loaning the M3 to Victoria Police for a short period – as it has done in the past."
