    I think T.E.Lawrence, "Lawrence Of Arabia" had a few of these, & wasn't that a great movie.

    I also said ... infamous in that he was riding one when he collided with a power pole at high speed when he swerved to miss a boy on a bicycle
    and died on hospital a few days later from head injuries The hospital records make no mention of a crash helmet being worn ...

    the story continues though.... his death (from the head injuries suffered in the collision) resulted in the introduction of crash helmets for riders
    in the UK... firstly army courier riders not long after the start of WWII and then after the war, after a long list of studies and medical papers
    ALL motorcycle riders in the UK had following legislation* by the British govt

    * the only politician who spoke against the legislation was .... Enoch Powell.
