pic above reminds me...
many moons ago... more than half a century ago, I was learning to drive using the folks HQ (bench seat, 3 on the tree etc)
but
with a few mates who were up to 12 months older and with licences, I had been sneaking around the block (or longer)
drives in things like a Renault GORDINI (horrid) and different ? ...an XT GT!

My next door but one neighbour had an earthmoving business and 3 sons. As each reached 18, he bought the favoured son
a new car! The 2 older boys had selected hi powered GT Falcons, so when it came time.. Ray turned 18 (about 6 months before me)
and
he wanted and got a nice brand new XT GT.

One Sunday he said lets go the Gt Ocean Road! ... might let you have a steer. Bad pic... box brownie in the park at Anglesea
but yes, got a steer!
