... about 20 years now mate
bought ( I was the 3rd owner since Vicpol had it) in 2002 (or 2003?) .. it had an initial strip/build of about 2 years and then out I went
I very quickly found out what things broke, what didn't work on a track (think Sandown.. !) and what was dangerous
Having a front passenger door open at T4 at Sandown due to body twist meant it went on holiday to have a safety cage added
Getting approval was an easy as I chose the same cage structure as what HDT used in 05 and 25 in the 1986 Grp A cars
Then back out and slowly did more stuff.. mainly brakes and suspension until that worked at most circuits (not Oran PArk or Winton as I found)
And then went for a new engine build ( I had been running the original 170,000 km engine with a re-ring, new bearings and seals/gaskets to keep oil in!)
that new engine came apart at PI a few years ago ( I still have the original as spare) when at 7000 out back at the Hayshed a bore collapsed (internal rust)
and good bye engine ... no big bang, it just locked solid and the car rotated 360°.

the replacement for that exploded engine is the reason the car is on the dyno (in that pic).. running in the camshaft you see
and don't forget .... the idiot in charge of the wheel (me) also needs track time, training in the art of circuit racing...

that engine never went on an engine dyno (hence once fitted it needed a camshaft bedding in run as pictured)
It did get another for a tune... checking timing, AFR etc and the final run on that was I think (have the dyno sheet somewhere)
was 262rwkw (that is about 350hp at the wheels?) ... a ton of fun in something just over 1200kg with me in it (as per PI scales)
Overall not slow ... and so I get this often in club track days for Sprints and Supersprints, mixing a mid 80s taxi cab aka VK
Commodore out there with Porsches and BMW M3s and similar stuff
this one did not get past me

I would expect a race car to beat a registered street car every day!
The old 202 HQ’s race cars could hold their own as well…
yesterday ... went to a Shannons Cars and Coffee morning there
had a chat with JB and also a purve at some cars...
