    Sv6 Blown

    g'day folks,

I'm planning to buy a VE SV6 and get the CAPA supercharger on it (company that I work for don't allow V8s). Can anyone on the forum tell me their experiences with CAPA supercharges on sixes--how efficient they are and whether the new 5-sp auto is capable enough to handle the extra power, and how fast is it going to be?? etc. Your comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers,

    Ian

sounds like a stupid company policy if u can have a blower on a six but no v8

and i assume uve seen this
    http://www.capa.com.au/kits_holden_vzv6.htm

it says 300kw which would be fwkw so thats 230ish at the wheels.
you should see 13's with that setup but have no idea how ur box will hold up. id expect it to struggle however

No, they don't pay me to fit it, but I'm free to take it out when it comes time to sell it and reinstall it into the next one. However, I would definitely buy a V8 if it was on the options list.

I am surprised they will let you fit it as that will void their warranty!

We have a pool of cars that attract a 'special' fleet arrangement (substantial discount) and I own the vehicle and remains my responsibility if it looses warranty. Until last year (2006) they had the V8 option but it's no longer a discounted fleet option forthis coming year. I could always of course purchase the vehicle outside of the fleet discounts but that would cost me much more than a bolt on supercharger.
    cheers

Talking about good companies to work for--CAPA is closed already for Christmas!!?? I guess my queerie will be somewhat delayed.

    Re: Sv6 Blown

Anyone know of any mods available for the ve sv6. I dont have mega bucks to spend but would like to free the thing up a little whether it be headers and or exhaust, 2 hole mod.
I'm happy with the note not to loud but audible but i can tell the car is restricted so i'm not sure whether just headers can be placed up to cats so it can breath a little better.

    Any ideas?

i think a supercharger for the alloytech would be a good option over a turbo, they dont make much grunt down low, and a supercharger would definitely help overcome this with buckets of torque from idle.

Yeah that would suck big time. The twin turbo one with standard crank over in the states only made 1500hp on an engine dyno!! That would SUCK like nothing else

There was a kit for sale a while ago that was around 330rwhp on standard alloytec with around 10psi and was used by the wife as a shopping trolley during the week.

I heard a VZ SV6 with an exhaust being given the berries once and it sounded (suprisingly) good. Great in fact. Those engines much really be chocked down from the factory.

I OWN A VZ SV6 AND I HAVE STARTED OFF WITH HIGHFLOW EXHAUST SYSTEM AND EXTRACTORS AND GAINED OVER 20rkw NEXT THING TO DO IS SS INDUCTION AND THAT WILL MAKE THE ENGINE BREATH EASIER DOING THAT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA IF YOU WERE GOING TO KEEP THE CAR

Do you know how much power there is at the flywheel ?

(must be about 230-240kw's considering it is 195kw standard)
