Scotty
Beautiful car..a real classic.
Cheers, Pickles.
A real nice ride mate...congrats.
In your description you talk about this car like its a done up Calais... But it's most definately not, it's a HSV... and not only is it an HSV, its a Senator... And IMO that's enough said...
I've always had the impression in my mind that Senator's hold the most prestige amongst HSVs, only because when someone asks you what you drive you say "A HSV Senator"... just sounds tough haha..
I have a VZ Calais, and its Nothing like this haha... Enjoy!
Thanks for your comments and it is an awsome car.
Yes you are right the Senator is the top of the commodore food chain (statesman/grange aside) but that doesn't take away the fact that the Senator is based around the Calais as far as switch gear and functions go, just like how the Clubby and R8 are based around the Berlina.
Here we are with the top of the line HSV sedan and it has Acclaim tail lights.
Personally I don't mind the tail lights as the Holden SS and Calais versions remind me too much of Alteeza lights that all the Ricers love so much.
Had I not bought a Senator my next choice was a series2 VZ Calais 6.0L as I like the luxury over the sports.
Cheers Col.
Haha, yeah fair enough mate. The rear lights always make me wonder what holden were thinking, maybe HSVs shouldve got their own specific tailight for VZ, but it doesn't detract from the car anyway... Senator was a better choice on the Calais, Calais are too common.. Good choice..
Love the Barbados. Got my mrs VZ Berlina in that colour. It looks nice. Looks like you need to get some product on your car there to bring it alive. Nice coat of polish will do it wonders and maybe get the front bar fixed. Looks like somebody's been bottoming it out. Top looking car though.
Unfortunatley the previous owner lived on top of a mountain with a very crappy tar sealed road, so there are a few stone chips around the car as well as the front but fortunately that also helped bring the price down a bit also.
Most of the stone chips are on plastic body pieces so don't affect the cars steel panels rusting etc
Anyway my own driveway is far from easy to negotiate so may just leave it until I really need to have some work done on it.
Personally when purchasing 2nd hand I prefer to see original paint work no matter what condition as a new spray job could be covering a lot more than just a few stone chips.
My son is a car detailer but we have both been too busy lately plus the crappy weather in Sydney which is why it took so long to get some pics together of the car.
i love senators so much
and yours is mickey mouse mate
looks really nice
a dus and a tune and you will be loving it !!!

Hey Col,
Great ride and I look forward to following your progress with future mods. The Dus OTR with look perfect under the bonnet and I am sure once you have done your future mods, you will find a few more things to add to the listI did.
Thanks for the kind words.
Although i love the Dus i'm in 2 minds as to whether to go for a mafless or maf tune.
With the LS2 and later mafs not being such a restriction (unlike the earlier LS1 mafs) there seems to be a push from later model owners to go for the maf style tunes and keep all the little benefits that go with using a maf.
If I go for a maf tune then I'll have to use a different OTR.
Waiting to see what the new Ramjet OTR looks and fits like.
As for future mods, I have had modified cars for last 30yrs (yes 30+yrs infact) and now I just want a nice reasonably powerful car for my wife and myself to cruise around in and the Senator fits that bill perfect.
I don't want to be spending weekends working on the car all the time or have the car off the road for weeks at a time have work done on it.
Cheers Col.
Beautiful Ride mate, awsome looking car with some very nice add ons. you must be wrapped with it.
Go the sureflo Quiet system mate you wont regret it...with the twin pipes too they have tips there that will look very close to stock.![]()
