From the bit of light reading I did, it seems a common mod in the states as the converters are very cheap. Standard LSA converter stalls around the 2k mark, obviously increasing as your engine torque increases. A lot of places like Circle D can modify them to stall around 2500 cheaply as well. Only difference they're saying is 6 holes on the 6L90 converter vs 3 on the 6L80 but they still match up so you only use 3 holes out of the 6...couldn't tell you if this is the same for our cars but a lot of guys have done it on a wide range of vehicles. All of this said, I'm not sure you could source one cheap locally, may just be easier getting one built from a reputable company, then you know exactly where it's going to stall to and that it will fit!
