I ordered my 1098 in Jan 07 and they were in short supply. it was hard to haggle on price.
I had to pay recommended retail for mine, but I pushed for a free 1000km service.
Mine took 7 months to arrive, hope you are patient.

I waited for the first service before installing the Termi's.

The 1098R looks great and is a step up on the 1098.

When you go for your first ride, watch out for the power of the brakes, they are amazing.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Have been told to expect 4 months(friend at work has 1098 and also said 7mths for his) Also said after mods it was the most powerfull bike he had ridden (dangerous for newcomers)in relation to brakes/power band etc

Right on with retail price. All quotes have been identical.
Deal will be based on "extras"

    thanks again

Re: Show and Tell: What bike do you ride??

    Just purchased a Kawasaki 2008 KLR650

should be here 13th March as there is NIL stock.

Had a choice of colour ... lime green, like green and lime green ... so I took the lime green.

Have ordered a 705cc big bore kit from the USA so it should arrive about the same time as the bike.

    Happy riding

Talking Re: Show and Tell: What bike do you ride??

Hi, Im pretty new to the forum as well...
Got a VY ss with 20's and the usual bolt on mods....
My bike is an 06 ZX10R ninja with power commander titanium exhaust and carbon fibre cans, Goes like a rocket.......when I pin the throttle i dont ride it, it rides me. The thing I love about these new injected crotch rockets is they can violently propell you to a 10sec quarter, but be tame and well mannered for a slow sunday cruise (albiet, a bit hard on the wrists)!!!!

My tip would be to swap wheels with a 1098S! Only thing letting them down is the gold wheels, which is a bit 90s!

Re: Show and Tell: What bike do you ride??

Picked up my 06 ZX10R Yesterday with 6500 km's on the clock and with a heap of mods already done, carbon cans, carbon hugger, gold anodised adjustable levers and rear sets, tinted screen, gold chain and sprokets, power comander, digital gear indicator, rear seat cowl and a dyno sheet with 164.8 hp, so for a change i don't have to do the mods.

I've had a look on the net but can't seem to find a full range of specs on it, like what it weighs, how much power it had stock and would anyone know how big the tank is and what it's range would be, i rode it from Perth to Kalgoorlie and fuel light was coming on after about 190 km's but when i filled it it didn't take anymore than about 10-11 ltrs.

    Cheers

    Dave

Picked up a 2008 Yamaha WR450 last weekend. Fitted a White Bros Muffler to it, great bike, heaps better than the older models.

I had an '01 YZ426 with a White Bros. pipe, It picked up a heap more power with that on the back of it.

Just got an '05 KTM 525EXC, Pro circuit pipe, jetted carb, 50tooth rear sprocket. This thing flys!! After having this, it makes the jap bikes look 5 years behind....

Is that because your comparing it to your YZ? because that was 4 years behind!!! hahahah

KTM's are great though, awesome engines and great components such as hydraulic clutch etc.......the suspension can be a bit sketchy for racing, especially the linkageless shock! but that's getting better too.
