Nice looking ute Wonky. Good idea to drive straight to the wheel shop and get it lowered too.

    Very nice wheels.

I am - just had a hard life!!

Ordered hardlid now (and one for James), so hopefully they come up well. A lot cheaper than most but having spoken to the guy personally on two occasions plus James went and spoke to him and checked them out yesterday we feel quite confident they'll be good! If they are the guy will probably end up selling a lot more to LS1 members!

Also noticed a good change from my sedan tonight when I drove it in the dark for the first time - the speedo and tacho numbering at night is nice crisp white instead of red which being slightly red colourblind I always had problems reading.

Pretty much the same as the sedan had with full KPM system, OTR and tune. Not sure which OTR to go for yet and may bite the bullet and go mafless this time. Will probably put an LS3 cam in later when it has more kms on it, basically because on these motors they apparently add a bucketload of torque and don't require the extra expense of different springs and pushrods.

i got the dus one mafless,i am impressed.
i was thinking about a ls3 cam but thought harder
if you are going to go to the effort of changing the cam
or pay to have it done it is possible to go a little bigger
    with the std valve train.
a set of spring is cheap insurance
although you have the dodsy lifter thing to consider as well

Good on you Wonks, you give all on this forum joy in one shape or form.

I really hope the SSV gives you a lot of pleasure and continues to give us keyboard warriors around the country plenty of fun watching the project evolve.

If ever there was a thread to watch, this is it

enjoy the journey mate cos plenty of us will be interested.

It could and would be nice if some forum sponsors got behind your project .
I can see all sort of interesting potential for sponsors watching your project.

Brakes, Charger, HID Lights, Intake, Exhaust, Cam/Springs or whatever!

    No Politics just an Idea!!

Yep, the DUS is certainly on my list of possibles! I'm not after every single kw and one priority is something that looks to a casual observer as if it may have come from the factory.

Yeah, understand where you're coming from on the cam thanks but the LS2/LS3 cams supposedly give quite a reasonable boost to performance (torque in particular) without requiring anything else and I supposedly have an LS3 cam coming to me at a much better price than I can get anything aftermarket for. Plus as you say I also have to replace the DOD lifters.

    Re: The WonkyUte (SSV)

you wont have to change lifters, i beleive its just a case on the tuner diabling the DOD software, beside everymodel since VZ has got DOD lifters just without the software
