Two full days of normal use is going to be a stretch. The reason your battery drained so much is because it maxed out its antennas to try and find a signal. You'll find that if you were in a good service area your battery life will greatly increase. As has been said, try aeroplane mode if you know there's not going to be any signal for a while.

I get about 12-13 hours out of mine .. rooted and running CheckROM 1.0 with Siyah 2.1 kernel - that is with a dozen calls, some music, 40 minutes worth of solid gaming, 20-40 sms and responding to 20-30 emails, twitter, facebook and linkedin. I would consider my business use of the phone to be average or maybe 6/10. Other guys in the office are lucky to see lunch time before recharging (standard ROMs, one on Telstra the other on Optus).

Emails are pushed via Gmail and Exchange, wifi and BT are on and connected all of the time.

The best I have seen out of this phone with a limited usage by me (on a Sunday) was 34 hours before it hit its 15% reminder, at which stage I plugged it in to charge.

Maybe try a reset and see if the camera comes back to life.

As much as it makes absolutely zero sense with battery conditioning being absolute bunk with modern batteries.. I found my SGS2 battery phenomenal when I first got it, awful shortly after (having to recharge within a day) and now going 2+ days without charge with no change in usage patterns.

Ultimately, it depends what you're doing on the phone, though. Heavy use = heavy battery. In those instances, there's not many places I go that doesn't have the ability to charge through USB.

If you want a lesson in custom ROMs, 4.3" and larger screens and more than one hardware design just ask away.

Or you could just stop trying to stir shit.

Re: Iphone or Samsung Galaxy 2

I am generally a very light user of my phones, not many calls, sms. More a bit of surfing and games. I get minimum 2 days, and maximum 4 days with that usage. When I did some idle baselining I worked out the phone on stock standard ROM with a few basic apps running in the background (data manager, battery widget, couple of weather apps, etc) uses 20% per 24 hour period without wifi on, and 25% per 24 hour period with wifi on. This is not using the phone at all except maybe one short call/sms a day, and a few minutes here and there with the screen on, and assuming good service signal.

You can add another 20-25% on to that if you get the Samsung extended battery. Custom roms will increase efficiency even more. But if I game heavily on it or use the sat nav I can drain the battery in 3 hours.

Anti virus is a waste of time IMO, just get a firewall app and an ad blocker.

I'm using AVG as well as Lookout. I don't know too much about Lookout but it seems to be running in the background all the time which leads me to believe this is the cause of my short battery life.

The reason I decided to download Lookout was that it could track your mobile phone if you ever lost it via the website. Also it can remotely trigger an alarm to the phone even if its on silent to help you find it.
