Maybe people should do some reading of reviews before making a purchase Vulture. You'll find that the radios have little effect on the battery life unless you're in a low service area. All the reviews I've read on the Nexus have said the battery life is bad. That probably means the battery life will be bad.

Use the internets. You obviously all have it.
Leaving aside the condescending tone of your post for a minute....

Of course the large screen will use more power - incredibly, I was able to work that out despite not being an astrophysicist. I certainly did/do read the reviews. Both the iPhone4S and the SGN are described as having poor battery life. To get a true guide of exactly how they compare is extremely difficult, if not impossible, from reading forum posts... In reality, the way I use the devices the iPhone4S has the better battery life by a significant margin. Turning off some radios does help a little. Besides, I can afford to buy these things for fun and don't really give a rat's arse either way. I have a Sensation XL as well that I play around with. I just don't take the whole thing as seriously as some people...they are toys to me to be mucked around with. But every Android phone that I have tried has impressed with some of its features but they aren't quite there overall. The SGN/ICS is the closest yet to the iOS simplicity, beauty, slickness and resolved overall integration but there are still shortcomings that the iOS/iPhone does a great deal better. Don't get me wrong, Android is excellent, but Google and the phone manufacturers still have some way to go to get iPhone levels of polish. True, they are getting closer all the time.

Levels of polish. I thought it was a pretty common expression.

You can only polish a turd as long as you'd like, but it will never sparkle like gold.

Or reworded so not to offend fanbois. The iPhone might be 24 carat gold, the android devices are 9 carat. Still a great device, but you can polish it all you like (customize rom) however it will have a different luster due to inherent differences in the OS

I dont think its the level of polish (as you explained it)
they are just different...if you want to snuggle up with Apple its an iPhone
if you want to beholden to no-one and want flexibility its an Android device

Now..based on all that...does the plan sound OK?
Just thought I'd chime in on this. You can install 3G Watchdog (mentioned earlier) AND another app called APN Droid.

With the 2 combined 3G watchdog will count the data used and it can trigger APN droid to kill the data connection when it gets to a certain percentage (e.g. 90%). That way the data cap should never go over. Works great on mine since I often find myself in places without wifi (such as now, tethered my laptop atm).

They are more than just different. One is a beautifully crafted piece of integrated hardware and software, the other, for all its merits is not at the same level and perhaps never will be. I mean, the SGN with ICS doesn't even resize emails so they fit on the screen! Doesn't even have a unified inbox! I mean that is simply pathetic. It's all these little things that make the iPhone a pleasure to use.

And yet Android is the most popular smartphone operating system in the world. I guess the majority of people prefer to choose the hardware that suits them and make small sacrifices with the software. Most of which are resolved with a trip to the Market.

I think its a case of operator error? No problem getting all my emails in the one inbox. Been able to do it with my first android phone and can still do it with my SGN.

Would never go back to an iPhone, but each to their own...

That's because there are so many handset manufacturers that use the Android COPYrating system. Doesn't mean most is best. Bollywood makes the most movies in the world, but I bet you can't name more than 3 of them. Country music is the biggest selling style of music in the world, and the Toyota Corolla is the worlds best ever selling car.. The list goes on..

Google has a few issues to resolve first before it can finish trying to polish it's 9 carat turd anyway.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...d-patents.html Ouch!

On a side note, this looks interesting - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...-hydrogen.html

Do tell how to do it with Android 4.0 and the SGN without downloading another email client.
Once you've researched it, get back to me with an apology.

Can't you see how silly this is? It's a bit like buying a new SSV and then having to buy aftermarket indicators because it didn't come with them. It is true that this criticism could have been levelled at the iPhone in the past also (cut and paste, MMS, Bluetooth functionality).
A unified inbox is really a bare minimum these days, for a new release of "the most popular smartphone operating system" not to do this is a big oversight. ICS is a nice advance over previous efforts but it's still fiddly and has plenty of unintuitive controls.

This is interesting. My HTC Incredible running 2.3.3 does this with the pre installed email app. Are you saying that the newer phones with the newer versions of android don't?

Go in to your email, add all the accounts you want.
Then click up the top where it has the name of the account and select COMBINED VIEW
Why would I need to apologize?

Edit - It's the same thing if you want to add an email widget to your screen. Add the email widget and you can then select if you want one account or all combined.
