    Re: Brett's VE Calais V V8

After an extended drive on the weekend it was obvious how bad the handling was with the lowered springs on stock shocks. I could feel EVERY bump and they were rattling and banging and basically made the car really poor on the road and through corners.
Changed the fronts with the Monroe Short Body Shocks and the difference is day and night... I should have done this in the first place, car rides and handles 200% better.

Also on the weekend, got to really test the Brembos when an oncoming driver did a risky overtake at the last minute and the driver in front braked really heavily (more heavily than required and I at first realised), the Brembos shed speed very quickly, kept the car straight and probably saved us from a big hit.

nice ride mate-- ur suspension upgrade gave me some ideas about what needs doing with my VY11 when I get rid of the FE2-so high when standard
One thing I did notice and knowing how fussy you are about the look of your ride is that the chrome strips at the bottom of the doors don't appear to line up in the photos, mbe it my bad eyesight-I apologise if I wrong or being picky

Thanks, it had 65,000kms on it... I've seen a few around lately for similar money, crazy buying.

Good eyes, you are right, the LH side strip on the front door sits a poofteenth low, not sure how to fix it, I think the door has dropped a bit..

Yeah, the polished rims seem to suit black the best, normally not my choice of wheel (but they were very cheap and fit over the Brembos).
Just need to sort out the swirls etc in the paint, need to decide whether to use Des or but a DAS6 and have a crack myself.

Sorry mate but a clay bar will do nothing for swirls. cashie do it yourself go with the dash 6 and some menzerna polish, probably power finish to start with and then 106, Just take your time with it mate.

I was impressed with white lie's finish after he used a DAS06. See http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthre...82#post1949282

I used Steve and the boys for my cam upgrade, travel well over 1000kms a week and the car is going great. On here it seems a lot of guys crap on about Oztrack this and Oztrack that. Don't know what the fark they are going on about and still am yet to see complaints from anyone that has actually used him.

    Re: Back in a Holden

Thought I'd have a crack at the paint with some clay I had laying around and some Mequires TechWax.
The paint looked like the previous owner was a regular at drive through car washes and had someone inexperienced buff it at some stage.
To say I was surprised at the results is an understatement, got rid of 95% of the swirls and marks in the paint.
No where near the results you guys are probably getting with full paint correction but has now made me not cringe every time I look at the car in the sun...

This is an indication of before:

And some crappy iPhone pics after:

Looking good mate, only thing I don't like about techwax is that the results won't last long as I think it relies on fillers that wash off easy.

Yeah, I think that will be the case, I'll still be doing the paint correction at a later date..
