High-performance 'hoon' car stolen from holding yard

BTW, the one carrying on over Harley Fergusons, they do meet restrictions when brand new and stock, until pipes are changed. I'm also tipping most commenting aren't in the bike scene to see the bullshit defects bike riders get. It's no different to modded cars and I've seen both sides.

Not much detail for why the car was impounded. But, there's 2 situations here, both of them being utterly ridiculous:

A) His car was too loud and the impounded the car under hoon legislation for "excessive noise". This, is completely retarded, there are defect notices for this which is designed to render the car legally non-roadworthy until it's fixed. Impounding of the vehicle implies that the "problem" (ie. exhaust too lound) is suddenly fixed by taking the car away 30 days, which we all know is not the case. On top of that, by not simply defecting the car, the police are practically admitting that the system doesn't work! If the car is defected and the problem isn't fixed he cannot legally drive the car, simple.

B) The second. He was ripping skids and got his car impounded. No sympathy here, but what the hell happened to calling things as they are? Since when was "excessive noise" and "intentional loss of traction" synonymous? What you have, is 2 laws for the same crime, but the police can opt for (in this case) the one which carries the higher penalty which goes to show how completely retarded the hoon legislation is. There's no warrant required and no judge needed. That isn't law enforced by the will of the people, that's law enforced by the will of the police officer and whether he/she got up on the right side of the bed that morning.

Which brings me to the second part of the story, the theft. The fact it took two weeks for him to be notified is indefensible and shows just how much the police didn't give a damn about his posession. A car, for many other than those who own a house, is likely to be the working Australian's most valuable posession. What the hell is wrong with this country if we can't even trust our own police with it. All the people (on the perth now site that is) commenting that he "deserved it" and such should get off their high horses and grow a spine. Whether he committed a crime or not, that doesn't give the greenlight for "payback" in any form. Anyone worth a damn would realise that. All they are, is half-assed do-gooders who'd love to see harm done to others (see: schadenfreude) they see as "bad", no matter how trivial the crime, but when it comes their turn will cry foul at the system they have driven to create. Sorry about the long rant, but self-serving, self-righteous, hypocritical douchebags like those commenters really $h!t me...lol

Because it would be much easier to part out/rebirth a commodore then it would be to do the same to a exotic?? If i had a choice to flog a vy or the porsche next to it id take the commie anyday of the week.

pretty Sure HSV manta is a cop... so unless he was the officer involved his statement means nothing. I wouldnt take what he says is gospel, no more than what the owner says happened.

end of the day though, it's not like cops or any one on earth hasnt embellished a story to get out of the shit or use as an excuse for doing something.

The stolen car, which is worth $30,000, is insured but Mr O'Sullivan said he would still be out of pocket and shouldn't have to cover the costs.

He shouldn't have to put in a claim. Either the police or AAAC should be paying for vehicle.

These private towing companies they use to store the vehicles are so dodgy it isnt even funny. As if they arent the ones ringing their "mates", making cars "disappear", getting "stolen" from their yards. Its hardly the first time it has happened to "choice" cars or parts missing off of others.

If police are the ones ordering impound notices on vehicles, they should be paying police to store the vehicles in police/government run yards.

If i was ever inadvertently unfortunately stupid enough to put myself in a position to have my car impounded I would glue myself to it, stories like this should be extra incentive for people to behave.

I can't believe the majority of the comments on the Perth Now site.

Saying "Whats the big deal, its only a commodore?" is terrible. It doesn't matter if the car was a complete POS, it is someones property that got nicked when supposedly 'secure'.

I'd sue the yard and the cops.
