Ls9 is too old not to already be in a mule. They are testing the lsa so I think pickles is on the money.

LS9 is "another world"......it's the ZR1 Corvette engine exclusively....MASSIVELY expensive....WWWAAAYYYY over the top for HSV.... ANY HSV car!
    Cheers, Pickles.

Since the LSA can be had with an auto, I hope HSV spread the engineering cost across a Senator LSA and Grange LSA as well as a "GTS-R" LSA. For a price tag that most likely going to be $100K+ i'd rather have the full luxury interior of a Senator Signature.

    Cheers, Matthew

Jag530G and Pickles - I fully understand what you are both saying, but it has been done before by HSV, so I was just fishing with Pickles to see if he knew a bit more than he was telling us lol

I cant wait to see what the outcome is as you will never get me to give up V8's until they cart me away in a cardboard box

    Mate.....HONESTLY.....I know NOTHING.
Look at this scenario realistically....if someone told you something "in confidence", would you broadcast it on an internet forum?.....I don't think so!....Neither would I!
So, No-one's told me anything! I'm just saying what "I THINK" will happen.....I know there's been LSA engines around the traps..lots of people know that......I just think they can do it.....all the bits to the puzzle are available.....so, why not?
    Cheers, Pickles.

Holden can't do a dry sump engine on the production line. A theme through this thread is the complaint that the W427 was way too expensive, I contend this manufacturing issue is a key reason for the expense.

    CHeers, Matthew
Basically, you are spot on. Many comments on the W427 come from people with only a history of "drive in/drive out" aftermarket tuner bills, not from an understanding of just how much money gets spent on a new car before a manufacturer can release it. "Official" new car releases cost a fortune, and something so unique and ultra low volume as a dry sumped HSV requires big money for new parts to be designed and engineering approval before it even gets close to sale. Engineering approval is WAY more involved than a quick trip to the local fish and chip shop to pick up everyone's lunches or a squirt around the local hills by the boss on the weekend...
For sure, if a supercharged HSV is released, it will ONLY have a wet sump LSA.

C'mon Martin fess up. You are the new product Director and PD sets pricing structure! So an E3 Senator Signature with LSA for $100k? I have my deposit here, delivery in August is fine.

Not in charge of pricing...just a bit of an idea of what's involved in developing a new manufacturer released car model...
End of the day, HSV will release a product to make money from, not release one to satisfy the ravenous appetite for new product by forum enthusiasts.

In order for HSV to make money, they need to make cars that satisfy ravenous enthusiasts.

I really don't get what is so hard to understand about that.

"Ravenous enthusiasts" often have vastly unrealistic expectations about what is possible for X dollars in manufacturer land. A fact often "explained" by posters on this forum.
    That's why.

    I did change my response.

I would love to meet you and have a couple drinks of your choice. I would very much enjoy hearing about your background and knowledge.

Maybe I could share some of mine.

C'mon Dave. I have spent plenty of time explaining the points you speak of in the past.

Without pushing the limits, and having high expectations, we would never have had products like the E series HSV or the W.

Who would have believed that we would have a sc, forged etc motor in a factory showroom car (FPV).

It was the high expectations that the market placed on FPV that made it happen.

When you see what HSV has in store for the VF you will appreciate what such high, and unrealistic, expectations can lead to.

If we never had these or never pushed the manufacturers through various mode of media etc, then we would not have had such advances.
