I agree. But remember all the fan boys reckon the motor doesn't matter now since FPV is kicking their arse. It's the "package" now lol

At the risk of sounding like your mate PD here - I dont think they need to sell a car that 'runs 12s out of the box'.. You can buy a Clubsport for well under 70k and thats alot of car for the money.. unless of course you need it to say 12 on a timeslip so you can: quote - 'upend your mates at bbqs'

What so you would be happy to spend more than double on a car that is only slightly quicker. Your own there buddy I suspect

Forget Davo for a moment (if only....)
When I have handed over +$45K for a new Holden/HSV V8 - which I have done half a dozen times over the past decade - it has been because it GOES FAST FOR THE MONEY. In my limited experience folks buy V8s for performance, not for really any other reason. Maybe I am wrong, and maybe not
If you are charged twice the premium you NEED twice the performance....or your mates will upend YOU at bbqs

    Correct..
And, get real you guys....the opposition does NOT run 12 secs, out of the box....REPEAT.....IT DOES NOT.

Last interview I read with the MD of HSV.....AMG were their competition. You might not have noticed when driving yours, but even a lowly (in the AMG food chain) C63 will scrape a 12. True.

They normally spin a touch stronger than that, and remember they have a proper 7 speed auto etc. etc.
The 6L80E is half the reason the HSV wont crack a 12 without a bit of work. Its not the prettiest thing to live with.

    Oh I forgot
Aren't HSV sold as a Performance car

    Now to determine performance
    1. Must beat opposition ie ford which it doesn't
    2. Equal or better your main competition
    It doesn't in some ways
    3. Achieve what/ which manufacturer you claim to be of equal ie C63 it definitely doesn't

Ok now we got that sorted what are our objectives
    1. Charge a premium and give fark all
    Achieved
    2. Live on our racing achievements/ heritage and hope no one realises nothing has been done
    Achieved

Don't get me wrong I would love an HSV but only if it was worth it

    They can leave it at 317 with F/I. 317 N/A is different to 317 F/I ...

Both will run well into the mid 12s. The new C63 performance pack will push close to 120mph and possibly an 11second pass ...

From memory Mustanger's AMG C63 ran a 12.0 or 12.1 at Heathcote at 119 or 120mph, with just a tune and slight exhaust mod exactly as it was driven to the track. I also remember reading somewhere (here I think?) of someone running a 12.1 in a stock one.

OK guys...a bit of "clarification" here.
When I said "12 secs"...I meant it in the literal sense....ie "12 seconds"....no more, no less. I gather when you guys say "run a 12", it could be 12.00, or it could be 12.99?.....big variation there.
Anyway, to be honest, I don't know what a STOCK GT335 will do, but I do believe that "Motor" have tested a C63 at 12.6.
    Cheers, Pickles.
