If it doesn't have a rear folding seat I don't care what they do with it. I have to borrow my mother in laws 20yr old Civic to go to Ikea, LOL - I don't want a wagon.

What you’ll find with the VE’s is a black strip a bit over a half inch wide on both sides of the windscreen. This is to try and hide the fact that the “A” pillar on the inside that contains the airbag is much wider than the outside panel.

    .
The A pillar doesn't have any airbag equipment in it. The bag itself starts about an inch away from the pillar in the side hood lining with the inflation occurring via the canister located in the rear pillar.

That’s fair enough, I don’t know exactly where the airbag is located but the inside section of the “A” pillar has airbag stamped into it and that’s silly if there is no airbag there. Airbag is also stamped near the “B” pillar of my Ute just over my head.

Still the reason he can see a black strip is that it is used on the windscreen to hide the fact the inside of the “A” pillar is much wider than the outside.

I had a good look at how they'd be able to make it a bit smaller with my car, and if they trimmed back some of the plastic trim where the window seals up into I reckon there's about 10-15mm there they can loose by angling it back into the car. I know what I mean.. This won't make the pillar smaller, but at least makes it less obtrusive.

Hmmm... I've seen a few 'spy shots' of the VF (which I guess were mostly photoshops) and I'm worried I won't like the look of it

Wheels now says due to launch early 2014. Others launch Sept 2013. It is still early 2012 so is it still 2 years away? Hard decision to make whether to turn the E2 into an E3 or wait or perhaps go and get something different. Wish there was something concrete about whether there will be a 'special' HSV later this year or not... As to the nameplate going in 2018 does it really matter? Rodeo to Colorado, did it affect sales? And given the next car wont be an in house design it is probably fitting to call it something else.

they will have to build 30 different commodores if they want to try and keep everyone happy. These threads remind me of the simpsons when Homer got to build his own car and look how that turned out, it suited him but his brother went out of business.

    Re: VF Commo spy shot

A little hard to tell under the camo but it does look a bit like someone grafted something like the Cruze front end onto a VE. Which I guess makes sense if they're going for a 'family' look across all Holden/Chevrolet products.

I expect to be up for a new family car during the life of the VF so this is obviously of interest. Especially if it's confirmed during the VF's life that its replacement will be some FWD box. If I don't like what they've done I suppose I might rush out and buy a runout VEII instead

That pic looks like a Caprice, doesn't it have an extra window behind the back door?

    Re: VF Commo spy shot

Wow early 2014, surely Holden would have to do some minor update or something between now and then.

The "VE" is really looking a bit old now. If no update between now and then, I would not expect any big sales numbers as people will just hold off, worse still if people have a VE and are ready to change over vehicles, they will just go elsewhere, why buy the same vehicle again???

If the Commodore does get the axe, i'm sure GM will send us the Camaro and Corvette as performance alternatives??? Hopefully!!!!!

You can't see much from the pics, all I can really say is the new vf Commodore better be damn good and worth the wait.
Especially the hsv range as I want a new hsv clubsport or gts and not gonna be happy waiting all this time for just another minor facelift.
