    Re: Plastidip

I've heard about doing it to badges, but wheels, it actually looks ok though. I did notice in one of the vids someone got a little too heavy with a pressure washer, so he dad to redo it, but it didn't take long. I've got my old wheels I could give this a go on, I was actually thinking of getting them powder coated.. It seems to peel off easy enough when you want to.

    Good find.

Seems like it might be the go for wheels, anyone used it before. Is it similar to spray paint in a can where it has to be evenly applied and what not? Wonder how pricey it is.

I just watched the vidseo seems like 1 can for each rim, that's if you wanted the back done aswell, which I presume you would want to. But at least of you don't like it off it comes. I can see the pressure washer taking it off to those who use one.

I have been using it for around 8 months, I also import it from USA, great stuff, my grand Cherokee is completely covered by it, all chrome is gone, including wheels, even after getting Tyres changed and off road work, no problem with the finish

I have done all window surrounds, grill, badges, wheels, door strips,

Also used in the interior of my ute

    Re: Plastidip

Was thinking of getting a couple of cans and trying it out on the Astra before I use it anywhere else, anyway it comes off if it doesn't look good. found a vid last night on youtube where a guy covered an S4 Audi completely in it.

Good to know, If you import it, do you sell it? How many cans do you need to do 4 20" rims all surface area?

Does it go off just sitting there? Also if there's gutter rash on the wheels does it have to be smooth when covering or will it hide the rash?

Another thing, if an area does peel off, can you just reapply to that area or is it rip it off and do it all again?

    Thanks

    Re: Plastidip

I used 4 cans for 4 20inch rims, It can be patched as long as there is a straight line, and it's not lose, comes off easy if you don't like it, very forgiverble stuff, if you over spray, it just peels off, if you get a run, it will dry smooth, I have had a half can sitting on a shelf for over a year and it still works fine, I do sell it but I'm not a fourm sponsor, so pm if you would like more details, not sure where your located, but always happy to show blokes how great this product is, I'm in south east melb

If its applyed to wheels will it stay on when the tyres are changed? Curious because i have vinyl wrapped my wheels and they had to cut around the edge of the wheel so the machine didnt rip the vinyl off.

    Re: Plastidip

I just changed 2 Tyres on our jeep yesterday after a screw driver punched the side wall! Only just marked a small edge, easy touch up and all fixed now, I told the guys at the tyre joint to treat it like a normal wheel as I wanted to know myself, I'm pritty happy with the stuff, even if it did come off, $120 bucks for 4 20inch rims, grill, and all the chrome strips on my 4wd, IDE be happy to replace every time I need to change the Tyres, after all it's only a 2hr job to paint all the wheels and be on the road again

Sounds like fairly durable stuff, got any pics or parts you have painted?
