Are you serious ? I'm sure anyone that bought a Ve could have bought a Vz .. It's all personal preference..

I think it has potential and yes it is only an artists concept but those were pretty close when the E2s were about to be released. Be nice to think there is a force fed 8 under than bulging bonnet. Guess we will all have to wait and see............................. For what it is worth I reckon the VE was the best looking Holden since the VX. VX Clubbie body kit is still a nice look but that series interior did nothing for me, I guess same story had a VT II and the inside was little different so I went to the dark side for a while. Had my taste of turbo 6s and then jumped into one of the first E series R8s and E2s, had to play with that to make it look as I wanted it. Just hope HSV keep the design kids away this time.

It looks ok, but nothing special. It is just a guess by MOTOR mag so you will have to take it with a grain of salt, though they usually are pretty close from memory.
It looks very corporate GM though. At least it doesnt look as terrible as the "corporate" look that mitsubishi forced onto the magna and that only helped to put more nails in it`s coffin.

    Re: Motor Mag VF "predictions"

The com-gen pic is pretty ugly, but we can make some pretty educated guesses about how the VF will look anyway.

We know from the Wheels spy pics that the doors, roof, and glass are not changing, so we're going to have a "VY problem" again - grafting a more modern front and rear end onto a bodyshell designed with different styling themes. (By that, I mean the angular VY front and rears tacked on to the very rounded VT-VX middle which, although others disagree, I always thought made for a pretty disjointed and awkward looking car).

Consider also that they will be going for a GM family look, especially if there's some chance the VF will be sold in the states. So I'd be looking at the front and rear ends of recently released US Chev models - Malibu, Impala - and imagining how they might look attached to a VE. Which does look a bit like what Motor has done, albeit with their usual level of skill and accuracy.

Interior? I'd be thinking lots of VE parts kept but some easily changed stuff updated. New centre console, new dash top, new steering wheel but same door trims and seats, for instance.

Remember that on the whole, Holden is doing this car following the GM bankruptcy and with declining Commodore sales, so this isn't going to be a billion dollar makeover.

For all that, I will probably buy one unless they stuff it up so badly that it's worth buying one of the last VEs instead. And I don't think I'm alone in saying that on this forum

Not trying to justify it at all, Vy- VZ look dated when any where near a VE. IMO

No good trying to argue with him, he still drives a VT and just likes to bag VE's for anything he can. When i owned a VZ and it was new i thought it was the best looking commodore and i still like the interior materials more but the VE is a nicer looking car on the outside for sure.

    Re: Motor Mag VF "predictions"

And your point? The VE is so much fresher and modern, the VY-VZ has sharp edges mixed with the smooth lines of the VT, you can't hide it's age.
Look at how long the overhangs on the front and rear are, i understand that each will have their fan bases some more biased than others but if you look at it in relation to where the auto industry is the VE is leap years ahead!

While both IMO look the goods, i personally think there is no comparison in the looks department.

or at that ride height... but the vy/z calais does look better than a stocker ve one
option the 20's and lower the ve and it's a whole different story though.

I do still prefer the look of a vz r8 to a ve one the vz just looks so much more aggressive

so I guess you have your subscription copy of the mag already. still waiting for mine here in regional australia!! anyway, I have never seen Motor or Wheels do a really good com-gen of a Commodore, so I take this pic with a grain of salt.
