    Re: Toyota 86

Considering the FT-86's power output and 'performance' credentials, a bodykit is the last thing this thing needs. Adding unnessessary weight and drag will do it no favours. It will only add to the embarrassment. It will be interesting to see how many seconds the tuned 160kw FT-86 trails behind moderately powered vehicles on the track in the hands of racers that actually race.

    Re: Toyota 86

Toyota is pushing the "driver experience" barrow rather than their car is more powerfull/faster than other makes,
I don't know how it compares to early model MX 5's in the power stakes which may be the market Toyota is trying to tap,a new MX5 is big bikkies for the latest model, but both are P Plate legal to the best of my knowledge
Be interesting to see the power plant options in the BRZ clone

It will be interesting thats for sure. I might pay local ace Tristan Catford to come and drive it for me. He seems to be the gun choice for driving lessons atm

With your location being shown as "stralia" I can't imagine you driving it either !

I concur. Which leads me to believe why MD has gone out and purchased one for himself (after bagging it), as this is the type of clientele that he likes to attract.

That wasn't the objective, however some of us don't actually have to 'pay' for that privilege.

Putting together a reliable and class winning car and completely dominating a national event at a national level is no mean feat. I shudder to think how much faster we would have been with a Donnon tune! You just stick to your entry level club stuff MD, because I am sure for you, constantly handing it to amateurs must be very rewarding.

Why would you say stuff like that, when you drive this? Purple Lancers with fake carbon parts I dont mind, but other users here are gonna think you are a hypocrite, as its not exactly the hairy chested stuff that muscle cars are made of now is it Bradley? I mean really have you ever even driven a V8?

Some of the boys on here that race their LS1s such as Listy and DR-vyss would give your Evo a walloping so dont come on here as an Evo forums troll thinking that you have something special to kick the Commodore owners around with. I mean crikeys you are something like three seconds a lap slower than an amatuer and very average driver like me in my hairdresser spec Subie at our home track Mallala

    Re: Toyota 86

Apart from the ganador mirrors (more there for better aero), there's not a shred of fake carbon fibre on it - goes to show what you know and another reason why I don't bother to read your shit magazine articles And it's blue BTW...

Last timed event was October last year when you were a mere 1 second quicker (not even in your own car because your Subaru wasn't performing or broke down) in much more powerful and highly developed car.

I most certainly have driven and owned/leased many V8 Commodores, starting from a VS S-pack ute, to a gold VU SS, then a Hot House green VY SS, then a White VZ thunder ute, then a series 1 VE SS-V ute and now a series 2 VE SS-V ute in Alto Grey. If I find time this arvo, I'll start a build thread on it. I have respect for all makes and models, turbo or non-turbo - I look forward to checking out Listy and DR-vyss' rides

Please not let us go off topic again Martin - let us leave this thread to discuss the new FT-86.

Hey I hear you are entering PCSA sprint upcoming Kirkwood. Be good to catch up away from the keyboards and actually race side by side
Might even have my 86 there with any luck so you can actually get to see one live in person
Sorry about the mistake with the fake carbon I'm not much into AutoSalon stuff
Certainly won't be putting too much carbon bits on the 86 don't like it much

Yes, I'm thinking about entering the PCSA sprint - just hoping to dip into the 1.16's and keep some of the Porsches at bay - car is setup for WP and I cannot expect too much more from it's measly 2.0L capacity and standard turbo. Best to get out there and drive/enjoy the thing rather than try and feed too much power into it in the pursuit of lower times.

I have seen an FT-86 in the flesh - V-Sport had one at Wakefield Park already fitted with AP Racing brakes. I don't rate it.

Running it's stock Prius tyres around the track doesn't come recommended, as this poor owner found out - this one was put into a wall at Mallala a couple of weeks ago.
