I didn't know anyone here had done it or not, I'd try put one in the little smart convertible thing. Did a MB drive day when they were released here and for what they are were a bit of fun.

There was an old bloke on the gold coast with an R1 powered mighty boy, that was cool to see, sounded like an angry hornet. He also had 2 dodgy looking Nissan urvans (the early 90s things) that were capable of low 11s.

Lease it and you won't be paying all those on roads. Hence advertising without on roads is still relevant. One of my students just bought a GTS. IIRC he paid $36 and that's not leased.

I read some tuners are doing the 2JZ, so length might work.

The 2GR-FSE V6 is another viable option to be honest.

Carsguide article quotes a 76 week/19 months wait for a manual GTS model, even Toyota customer service is unsure of the actual wait time

    Re: Toyota 86

A red one was parked next to me today.

I thought the interior looked good, the seats in particular had a bit of seriousness about them.

The outside was a different story, there was nothing I liked about it.
Plus it sits way to high and the wheel size just added to the awkward stance.

That doesn't mean they're not a fun drive.
Once they’re spent a few weeks with the car, I’ll be interested to read the views of the people here that have them on order.

I have seen 4 this week, 2 Black, 1 Silver and 1 Red. They don't look as good in the flesh as they do in photo's imo.

Mazda mps not as nice looking but goes ok, be better if was rwd as well the mazda. seems to be no cheap sporty cars with looks and go...like the look of the 86 but another no power car.

BRZ has heavier front springs to bias it towards understeer so a potential stepping out of an old WRX would feel right at home.
Toyota on the other hand have gone with a high rear spring rate and shock valving which allows for plenty of sideways action to scare the kids

0-100 in 7 flat and high 14s for the quarter, it's not THAT slow! Lack of torque might be the killer if you're not a lots-of-revs driver though.

    Re: Toyota 86

The 86 runs about WH LS1 performance figures out the box (high 14s)
With a tune and some mild bolt ons it should be closer to VE HSV territory in the high 13s
Its slow, but it aint - that - slow
Just need to beat it like a red-headed step child....
