New Mazda 6 looks ok too but probably no performance car, not sure it will have an MPS spec. no details yet really what we are getting, hopefully the v6.

Called the Mini Z it comes with a turbo1.6 litre 148kW and will also come in 4WD,Nissan says the torque band will be better than the Toyota motor offering
Photo's and details are on Motor Trend
    Possibly not coming to Oz

Standard practice for drifting. The clunk is the backlash being taken up.

Thats pretty much how drifitng started, you had to do that in the cult AE86 to get it to slide

That's because commodores use a drum arrangement. When the pads hit the rotor it pulls on. For proper drifting you use a hydraulic setup actuating the calipers.

Had some idiot 'driving instructor' do that to me at a track day a long time ago. Absolutely blew the handbrake assembly apart and took big chunks out of the inside of my rear rotors with all the debris flying around inside the hub. Caused about $1000 worth of damage from ripping the handbrake up while I was driving! Not something I'd be doing again in a Commodore in a hurry. Use more throttle if you want to get it sideways

With the old AE86 you basically had to wait till it rained to get the things sideways, hence 'Sprinter' became 'Sprinkler'. This one will probably be no different.
As per getting the thing sideways, you might want to clutch kick it. Bum dragging on the handbrake aint cool
Try it pre-apex in an LS1 at 80 - 100kmh, clutch in, limiter, bang it off (all in one fast action) while pointing the nose. Its effective!

maybe for a stock/cam motor. put some cubes or blower in the front then it just a matter of stomping the pedal. :-) less likely to end up facing the wrong way.
It's happened before, It will all happen again.

You would be good to get a high powered LS1 setup for a corner, before the corner, by stomping the gas, but stranger things have happned!

Lol thank you for the tip on how to drift... question was more based on the differences in handbrake between that and one of our barage commodores. Nothing better then raw power (V8) & clutch combo in my opinion. Only ever reason i bought one in the first place. Lol my tyres dont last more then 3 months, the rear ones that is. Although i get super good wear out of the fronts

    Re: Toyota 86

Commodore handbrakes have always been a prick of a thing. Its because they use a single action cheapie type sprung shoe thats essentially designed to work in reverse to the way its mounted. Some of the nipper cars use drum handbrake as well, but do it in a more conventional fashion so it doesnt sound like the fullfiment of the Mayan prophecy should you decide to reef the brake at greater than walking pace. Hence the 86 can be bum dragged without snapping anything
