I wonder why they went to 325, because wasn't it 297 prior to 307?

So, what they're saying is that they'll produce some new lower-spec cars at a cheaper price, then they'll plug into the ECM and supply the 325kW tune to all of the R8s they've got sitting around currently and cannot sell. Hmm......

Well you you learn something every day, I always presumed it was down to the exhaust, in that if operating in "loud" mode, that exhaust gave the KW gain, I can see there may also be tune tweaks also part of the bimodal package, so you are saying if optioned on to lower spec car, they aren't considered to be 325KW, and the boot badge still says 317.

I have to disagree with you macca_779.
The 325kw catback is different, and I'm not talking about the rear mufflers. From the cats to the H-pipe it is 63mm (2.5") outside diameter. From there back to the rear flanges it is 60mm. From the rear flanges into the bimodal mufflers it is 57mm (2.25").
For comparison, the catback fitted to other VE V8s is 57mm all the way apart from a short section in the middle that is only 2" and squashed. Optioning the bimodal mufflers on the smaller exhaust doesnt remove the restriction up front, hence the power remained at 317kw.
