I am NOT an expert in the art of defining what is "right", and what is "wrong" with the chassis, the drivetrain, handling, suspension or whatever of ANY car. I might "like" it, I might think it's driving Ok, but what it's actually "doing" right or wrong, would be beyond my comprehension.....and I'm not talking about how hard it accelerates, how good the brakes are etc....anyone can do that. But the finer points of what a car is actually doing, & what it's not "doing", is, IMHO, fairly accurately described by the majority of motoring scribes....and bear in mind, they're NOT just driving a Holden or a Ford, they're driving EVERYTHING, so they're in a much better to compare. They also have the opportunity to drive the vehicles very severely in all conditions, on closed roads, which we are unable to do.
So yes, I DO read motoring journals, not cover to cover because some of the stuff doesn't interest me..but I do take notice of what they've got to say, particularly relative to vehicles I may possibly contemplate owning.
Having said that, yes I do take note of Journos' opinions, road tests, BUT at the end of the day, I simply buy what "I" (or wifey) like.
I'm not particularly a Holden/HSV person....I bought a Focus RS last year. But, when comparing FPV & HSV of recent years, I've simply preferred the HSV product.
