I currently use an IPOD dock connector from my iphone4 to the rear aux input on a series 1 VE. Has anybody connected an iphone5 it to the rear aux input on a series 1 VE head unit using the lightning to 30-pin connector ? Does audio work and can you still control the volume from your steering wheel controls ? Won't be upgrading to a 5 if it doesn't.

    Slight thread hijack

If you have an older Iphone and update to I06 and you use Imessage you have to go and turn it on (I think it was automatic previously)

The Maps function in IOS6 is just woeful. Asking for directions in our area and it tries to send you across streets that have been blocked off for 25 years.

Rockhampton is about 60k's south of where it says.....

I think Apple need to swallow their pride and put out an upgrade re-instating the Google maps function till they can get their own mapping app half right (They have a contract with till 2013, so it's not like they can't do it!)

On the other side of the coin, if I were , this is a golden opportunity to make Apple look very very stupid. If I were them I wouldn't release a 3rd party App (releasing one is ultimately pulling Apple out of the shit they've found themselves in).

I used it today for shits and giggles as I had to go pick some guys up from the blood bank. Apple maps had no idea where the address was. Switched to the tomtom app, no dramas.

    The New iPhone

My mate came over last night with his new iPhone and I got to check out the differences to my 4S. One thing I did notice in maps is that with the 5 you can search Melbourne or Sydney etc and zoom right into the CBD's. The vectored graphics render all of the buildings and it looks awesome. You can spin it around 360 and its nice and smooth. I just tried it on mine and I can't zoom in to show the buildings so whether its a CPU / GPU limitation I'm not sure. Maps is still crap but it definitely has potential I think.

    Easy as..
    1. Remove sim

    3. Slide up rear cover
    4. Remove screw holding ribbon cable of battery.
    5. Remove battery.
    6. Reverse process
