I took one apart this morning - seemed to be a lot easier than pulling apart a 4!

Picked mine up today. First Apple product since my 30Gb iPod in 2005. So I'll see how it goes in the coming weeks.

Got mine today. Love it. Had a 3GS before this. The speed on the internet is amazing.

    Cheers, Mick

Not really harder just gluing the batteries to the back casing was a real dumb idea..removing the ribbon cables was a bit touchier too...

And you don't think that jailbreaking and installing pirated apps is just as risky?
Whatever the OS, install official apps only and use a bit of common sense.

This doesn't refer to Jailbreaking or dodgy app stores, this is about Androids insecure OS. I'm talking about a normal user getting tricked by a dodgy App vs a normal user only being able to install an App that's been cleared by Apple.

"The bait is typically a search-optimized fake app market or website; the apps themselves not only present a legitimate-looking front but include dynamic code to stymie any reverse engineering. Woe be to anyone who's tricked long enough to finish the installation, as the malware often sends text messages to expensive premium phone numbers or links target devices to botnets."

Like I said, regardless of OS, only install authorized and official apps. I doubt that normal users of Android are going to be searching for alternative app markets.
Having said that, I wouldn't be using any Android device with an OS prior to Jellybean.

Yeah that's fine Illucid but Mr or Mrs Joe Average might not know the difference between the legitimate app or fake app.

If they stick to the Google store, they should be ok. Apple allow all of the games with in-app purchasing which I personally believe is the height of irresponsible publishing. Mr and Mrs JA from either ecosystem need more education.

A bit of common sense goes a long way. Will you never use a PC or Mac either? Both a susceptible to malware and viruses. Will you never use an internet based payment system? Never use an ATM?

    malware riddle Android device :screwy:

anti malware not so much AV. Considering NFC payment and wallets on phones are on the roadmap for most banks, it is prudent and necessary. 5 years ago I would have agreed with your statement , but time has changed therefore thinking must as well.
