But having said that, I ain't a wrap for the HSV 25th Anniv. car either.....and, regardless of whether some on here bother to read motoring magazine road tests because they consider themselves better "judges" than motoring journos, I shall be very interested to read the comparison between these two cars when it happens...and surely it will?...
    Cheers, Pickles.
Pickles, I agree with most things you've said. However I do draw issue with how you say some people think they are better "judges".

    Stand back for a second.

Everyone has bias, an agenda, a different taste and differing reasons as to what they want a car for. Car journo's are exactly the same. Topgear episode that was on a few weeks ago showed a Maserati vs a AMG Merc. He was going on about how the merc can't handle for crap and goes all over the place and said it was the worst of the two.
Not sure if he forgot to turn ON traction control, but in the stigs tests the Merc had the faster lap time.

In other words he was full of shit.

I'd prefer to hear a 'punter's' view of the car over a journo's, as a punter has to live with the car. Not just drive it hard for a few km's then write some crap to get people to buy the mag.

    Re: Fpv gt rspec

I would think that....actually, let's go back to the start.
I would HOPE that most people giving their opinions on the motoring media have enough brain matter to comprehend that some options are VERY different to each other, so only a fool would lump them all together as the same.
    Examples...
Wheels- aims to represent the mainstream thinking patterns where many areas of either excellence or shite lead to the final result. No one thing produces a "winner", especially the most powerful engine.
Top Gear- entertainment is king. "Boring" things like rear seat space, boot size and ride comfort driving to work aint. Now where's the Stig hiding?
Motor/Street Commdore's etc- fully sik lets go do sum skidz power rulz man hoos tha best fukn tuner man.

Clearly massively different markets are being aimed for, and quite frankly, if someone bagging (eg) Wheels for regularly giving HSV's a win in recent times can't differentiate these three different options, then, I'm sorry, they are forever destined to be hugely ignorant with no hope of ever being re-educated. If you are a power junky and the most powerful engine ALWAYS wins then that is your right to think that way, but DON'T continue to embarrass yourselves by blasting all forms of motoring media as being "the same" uneducated fools.
Maybe the uneducated fools are the nameless ones bagging the media ones for doing their best to give uncorrupted, mainstream thinking outcomes based on multiple criteria...

"Full Of Shit"?.....well yes, I know what you mean, but I wouldn't put it quite that way!
That was the wrong "opinion" to pick.....ya're talking about Clarkeson doing the M.B. Black Series Coupe V Masserati comparison. Clarkeson was not being serious there....he was actually just "hooning" the car....he was not "driving" the car seriously at all...opposite lock, traction control off (he didn't forget to turn it on...he purposely left it off...which he would NOT have done if he was being serious!), lighting up the tyres (that's what he ALWAYS does...lucky buggar!)driving like a goose...all that stuff that he actually gets paid millions of dollars to do. In the test that we are talking about, he actually wore out the tyres in the AMG in just FOUR LAPS....because like I said, he was just hooning around with the tyres "lit up" ALL the time! He is, in real life, a BBiiGG fan of AMG...he owns one of the most powerful versions himself!.
The "True" comparison in that program was the Stig drive of the two cars, in which the AMG was appreciably faster, even quicker than a Ferrari 599 actually.
So, Clarkeson...."full of shit".....well yeah, I know what you mean......but that's why Clarkeson is so popular....he does that sort of "shit"....not many people do.....because it's not seen as the "right thing to do"......Clarkeson doesn't give a stuff about what people think....he just does it...and he knows his millions of fans like it!
    Cheers, Pickles.

That's all fine and dandy...until you realise that many "honest" punters opinions in this thread give the win to the R-Spec cos it's got the more powerful engine and gets to 100km/h faster maaaaaaate. Does power junky care that the driving position isn't as good, or the suspension is inferior, or whatever???
You got to get out of the enthusiast bubble if you want the more truthful punter opinions you apparently crave. If power is really all you care about, hence you agree with many of these people, then most of us are more than happy to accept that. Just don't slag off the media who try to be as balanced as possible for MOST people.
I reckon the answer to how long a piece of string is will have more people in agreement than a performance car related question posted in the often egotistical world of enthusiast internet forums...

Am yep and I will say it again. Interior is Plain and yes its fast.

But the interior should have been better considering its their top shelf car. Besides the engine push button start, it looks almost like any other falcon. Considering most of the time your going to be behind wheel and not outside looking at the car it should be distinguished.

Anyways its looks to me like its 1/2 complete.

And a HSV isn't? I'm impartial and my last 2 cars were Holden/HSV and we still have an E1 Clubsport but really the interiors have never been outlandishly different, same deal really seats/steering wheel/cluster and only in VE different gauges to the Holden's...

Moot point, same with the seating argument. I've complained in the past on fords seat height, but on a side note any Holden/HSV with leather is noticeably higher than cloth, FG though has fixed that it seems.

Drive an FG & VEs2 back to back for longer than 20mins and make your own judgement, I prefer the falcons layout/fingertip ergonomics and not having to lean into the dash to change HVAC/IQ like the VE. But falcon needs an IQ-like centre command unit and better standard sound. I could write a bit more but cbf after this essay

It's not their top shelf car. It's their outright performance car. But not the premium model

Another comparison by Drive, a video is accompanied with the story. FPV had it hands down this guy reckons, his opinion was also contradictory to what the Wheels team thought about the same cars. Goes to show there is a lot of personal influence with journalists (not brand loyalty, just what they feel more comfortable with).

That FPV was a good 2 or 3 car lengths in front of the other two to 100 in the video, looks like they fixed the grip finally.

The Black with red bits looks totally crap IMO.
It would want to be fast to make up for its terrible looks, lol...
